Job Duties:
The Junior TechnicianĀ within theĀ Intelligent Transportation System (ITS)Ā departmentĀ is responsible for providing thorough equipment testing, calibration, repair, replacement, removal, or installation within theĀ TBU (Technical Business Unit). In addition, the Junior Technician (ITS) will be responsible for ensuring the completion of all work orders and the ITS Project Manager tasks within the specified timeframe.
- Provide intermediate work efforts for items described or listed on Technical Business Unit (TBU) work orders providing thorough equipment testing, calibration, repair, replacement, removal, or installation as needed
- Personnel assigned to these positions shall ensure completion of all work orders, and ITS PM tasks within TBU specified timeframes
- Research equipment controls and settings
- Stay up to date with system components as well as troubleshoot and plan work efforts with other contractors and TBU personnel.
- Travel to various work locations statewide is required as needed.
- Communicate with designated TBU and/or Contractor personnel when arriving at a field site and when completing work activities
- Safeguard sensitive systems data, contact information, passwords, combinations, keys, etc.
- Verify the performance of ITS systems using COTS software tools and/or software tools available from the TBU
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or accredited trade school certification with coursework in electronics, electronic communications, IT, or related field, if specified as acceptable by the TBU
- One (1) year of experience with the maintenance and repair of at least one (1) of the manufacturer equipment brands listed in the chart above or similar equipment, if specified as acceptable by the TBU
- Knowledge of one or more of the applicable work segments: Highway Advisory Radios, Cohu CCTV, Overhead Messaging Signs, Roadway Traffic Monitoring Systems, Highway Warning Signals, RWIS, and Cable Locate.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner.
