The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, developmental planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape future space missions across the national security space enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including, the United States Space Force, the Department of the Air Force, the Missile Defense Agency, U.S. Space Command, U.S. Strategic Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation.
Aerospace's Missile Defense Support team is seeking a highly motivated Kill Vehicle Analyst to join their team! This team develops various software applications, modeling, and simulation (M & S) capabilities and performs assessments to support Missile Defense Agency.
This is a hybrid position that can be located in El Segundo, California or Huntsville, AL. This will call for 2-3 days of in-office work per week.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support the primary customer of the Missile Defense Agency, Ground-based Midcourse Defense Program (GMD).
- The Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) element provides Combatant Commanders the capability to engage and destroy intermediate- and long-range ballistic missile threats in space to protect the United States.
- Contribute to Missile Defense System performance assessments in simulation followed by missile flight test environments. The government will rely on your technical assessments to inform critical decisions.
- Evaluate algorithm performance enhancements through modeling, simulation, and analysis. Coordinate and lead bicoastal analysis team to ensure tasks are tracked and proceeding according to plans.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited program in aerospace or electrical engineering, or physics
- 4 years of experience in missile system performance assessments
- At least 6 years of engineering experience
- Experience with Missile Defense System Simulations
- Strong proficiency with scripting languages such as MATLAB and Python. Strong proficiency in C and C++.and have the ability to identify gaps in logic. Working knowledge of Linux.
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Algorithm evaluation
- Missile System Performance
- Experience with the fusion of RF and EO/IR data
- Willing to travel domestically approx. 25%
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- 8+ years of experience in Missile Defense assessments
- Task lead experience and demonstrated ability to successfully lead geographically dispersed teams
- Demonstrated ability to conduct fact-finding and analysis, problem resolution using all available resources and tools, including but not limited to MATLAB and Python
- Ability to identify trends and make recommendations to improve processes
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$103,285 - $168,019 - $232,752
