Position Summary

Caribou Thunder is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Kinematic Modeling Engineer to join our team and support the Threat Modeling Center. In this role, you will contribute to the development and delivery of high-fidelity threat modeling products in support of the Missile Defense Agency and MDA's Ballistic Missile Defense System.

Complete Description

As a Kinematic Modeling Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and verifying kinematic threat models, coordinating team activities, and serving as a customer-facing liaison for communication and project planning.

• Develop and verify kinematic threat models, as well as high-fidelity ballistic missile and advanced threat models, using various modeling and simulation tools/frameworks/media.
• Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Missile Modeling/Kinematic Modeling team within the Threat Modeling Center.
• Act as the primary point of contact for the customer and internal communications, setting work priorities and project plans, maintaining the model database, and effectively managing the team by delegating tasks based on project priorities.

Minimum Requirements

• Strong understanding of modeling and simulation methods and processes.
• Ability to research, interpret, and verify parameters required to build, replicate, and propagate missile or space launch trajectories, including staging, debris, countermeasures, and RV/payload traits.
• Proficiency in applying standard engineering and mathematical algorithms to ensure accurate portrayal of expected missile or space launch behavioral characteristics throughout all phases of powered and unpowered flight.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, function as an integral member of a product delivery team, and meet time-critical delivery schedules.
• Experience in modeling, simulation, and automation.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB and Python.
• Strong knowledge of the flight characteristics, motion, and performance of ballistic missiles.
• Self-motivated and capable of thriving in a dynamic team environment.

Preferred Requirements

• Strong background in mathematics, physics, or engineering is highly preferred.
• Previous experience in modeling flight characteristics, motion, atmospheric dynamics, and missile performance parameters of ballistic missiles is highly desirable.
• Extensive knowledge of missile system engineering performance.
• Mastery of engineering modeling principles related to body motion, trajectory generation, countermeasures, and debris is a plus.
