We are looking for a Laboratory Automation Engineer with strong mechanical engineering skills to design and build cutting edge automated work cells for biological systems. The successful candidates will work closely with scientists and engineers to develop hardware and software solutions to make Science cheaper, faster, safer, and better.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Design and build biology workcells
- Robotic system integration
- Rapid hardware prototyping
- Systems design for manufacturing
- Tool design and fabrication
- Fixture development
Key qualifications:
- Experience with mechatronics
- Experience with laboratory integration
- Experience with software (Python)
- Solidworks
- Actuator selection
- Precision robotic fluid handling
- Scaffold construction
Preferred qualifications:
- Familiar with laboratory automation instruments (Opentrons, Bravo, Formulatrix)
- Part design
- Vision systems
- Sensor selection
- Experience with 80/20 frame components
Salary/Pay Range:
For individuals hired to work in California, Science is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on geo-located salary bands. The base salary range for this full-time position is $100,000-$160,000 annually + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers.
