Labor and Employment Lawyer - AVP/Senior Associate
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced employment/labor attorney to join the HR Law and Litigation practice group in Brazil. The successful candidate will support the HR Law team, including the management of all labor claims and provision of legal advisory services to local and regional HR and the business and partner closely with a global and diverse team of internal stakeholders as well as external counsel on advisory and litigation, HR-related projects, and other related complex litigation matters. In this position, the attorney will also have responsibility to support the management of a diverse portfolio of advisory and litigation matters relating to various lines of business and products. The position will also require case reporting and other administrative functions.

Job Responsibilities
- Strategically manage the Brazil labor litigation portfolio, including continuing assessment of alternatives and solutions to resolve pending cases.
- Instruct outside counsel on case management, including reviewing draft documents, formulating strategy, and managing legal spend.
- Partner closely with lines of business, HR teams and Legal partners to assess risk, develop litigation strategy, and convey and assist in implementing legal lessons learned.
- Responsible for providing reporting to senior members of the lines of business, HR and Legal teams in Brazil and globally, including on case updates, contingencies, and legal advisory.
- Provides legal advice on handling of pre-litigation complaints and disputes.
- Assist with litigation-related queries, including drafting contractual provisions.
- Update reports and internal databases regarding case developments, as necessary.
- Review, assess, and answer external legal requests for information, and court orders to seize / block assets.
- Contribute to important projects across the HR function, the HR Law Practice Group, Litigation, and broader Legal department, to enhance internal practices and coordinate subject matter expertise across practice groups.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- 5 or more years experience in litigation (mainly labor) and dispute resolution practice, including complex cases in courts and arbitration. Relevant professional experience may have been gained at prestigious law firm, or equivalent role within the legal department of a large international or multinational company.
- Experience handling complex labor matters on financial / banking services industry disputes and advisory.
- General experience with broader aspects of civil litigation.
- Experience managing a caseload, contingency reports, and sophisticated employment-related matters containing contractual, compensation and cross-border aspects with limited supervision.
- Successful candidate must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing of OAB (Brazilian Bar Association).
- Proficiency in English is required.
