We are seeking passionate individuals to explore innovative applications and solutions for large models in TikTok multimedia (e.g. video, images, and audio). Your primary focus will include the following areas:

1. Design and develop state-of-the-art deep learning engineering optimization solutions to support model development and iteration in content understanding and generative AI.
2. Optimize end-to-end efficiency in model training and inference, including but not limited to data management, training/inference acceleration, resource utilization enhancement, distributed training support for large-scale models, model architecture optimization, model compression, etc.
3. Communicate and collaborate with colleagues in cross-functional teams to improve models, algorithms, and engineering infrastructures.
4. Provide AI solutions for multimedia business scenarios across all TikTok products, such as streaming media transmission, image/video/audio creation, content consumption, etc.

Qualifications

1. Proficient in one or more programming languages, such as Python, C, or C++. Familiar with common data structures and basic algorithms.
2. Familiar with computer architecture and operating systems. Have background with distributed systems and design patterns.
3. Familiar with one or more open-source deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Paddle, Spark ML). Understanding the underlying design of the framework, or familiar with the source code. Experiences in contributing open-source projects are preferred.
4. Strong enthusiasm for challenging tasks, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Preferred qualifications:
1. Experience in large-scale distributed machine learning, parallel training, distributed data processing frameworks like Hadoop/Spark.
2. Experience in developing open-source algorithm frameworks in areas such as CV, NLP, speech, or experience in deep learning model acceleration and engineering implementation.

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $194000 - $355000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
