Launchpad Chicago 2024 | Software
Job Description
At IMC, software engineering is not a department; itโs at the heart of everything we do. Since the late 1980s, weโve pioneered the use of technology to advance the development of market making and low-latency trading. Today, our software engineers work alongside traders in multidisciplinary teams to push the limits of possibility, and then look beyond. In our fast-paced environment, short feedback loops mean projects worked on in the morning can enter production the next day
IMC Chicago Launchpad:
IMC Launchpad is a 2-day program for second year students interested in software engineering and trading roles at a leading global trading firm. If youโve been curious about what life at IMC could look like for you and have an appetite to gain hands-on technical skills, this is the experience for you.
The IMC Chicago Launchpad program will be held in our Chicago office. Travel & accommodations will be provided by IMC for participants not local to Chicago.
What You'll Do:
- Deepen your understanding of software engineering and trading at a leading global trading firm through educational and interactive sessions led by full-time IMC software engineers and traders
- Sharpen your technical skills, learn about applications in trading, practice problem solving in a real-world environment, and develop trading strategies through technical workshops and participation in IMCโs in-house trading simulation
- Build your confidence in teamwork through networking opportunities with fellow student attendees and full-time IMC software engineers and traders
- Program participants may be eligible for a modified interview process for our Summer 2025 Software Engineer Internship in Chicago
What You'll Need:
- Availability to attend the program in person in Chicago on May 16 & 17, 2024
- An academic background in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- To be in your penultimate year of undergraduate study during Summer 2025, meaning you will graduate between Fall 2025 - Spring 2026
- Interest in financial markets, but no prior knowledge or experience is required
- Knowledge of algorithms and data structures
- Analytical skills and desire to solve complicated problems programmatically
- Experience in a programming language (Java or C++ preferred)
- Willingness to interact and work closely with non-engineers in a constantly changing environment
- Eligibility to work within the United States
