Launchpad Chicago 2024 | Trading

IMC trades a wide range of financial instruments, in many different ways. This means we look for different types of traders; from the quantitative minds who enjoy the mathematical side of trading to more operationally focused personalities who thrive on interacting with brokers over the phone.

IMC Chicago Launchpad:

IMC Launchpad is a 2-day program for second year students interested in trading and software engineering roles at a leading global trading firm. If you’ve been curious about what life at IMC could look like for you and have an appetite to gain hands-on technical skills, this is the experience for you. 

The IMC Chicago Launchpad program will be held in our Chicago office. Travel & accommodations will be provided by IMC for participants not local to Chicago.

What You'll Do:

• Deepen your understanding of trading and software engineering at a leading global trading firm through educational and interactive sessions led by full-time IMC traders and software engineers
• Sharpen your technical skills, learn about applications in trading, practice problem solving in a real-world environment, and develop trading strategies through technical workshops and participation in IMC’s in-house trading simulation.
• Build your confidence in teamwork through networking opportunities with fellow student attendees and full-time IMC software engineers and traders.
• Participants may be invited to a modified interview process for our Summer 2025 Quant Trading Internship in Chicago. 

What You'll Need:

• Availability to attend the program in Chicago on May 16 & 17, 2024
• An academic background in analytical/quantitative or related field of study such as: Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, etc.
• Strong analytical skills and desire to solve complex problems
• Experience in programming language is an advantage (e.g. Python, Matlab, or R)
• To be in your penultimate year of undergraduate study during Summer 2025, meaning you will graduate between Fall 2025 - Spring 2026
• Interest in financial markets, but no prior knowledge or experience is required
• Eligibility to work within the United States
