What does a successful In-House Lawyer do?
In this role, you will provide legal support to Fiserv's Banking Organization, working with some of Fiserv's most active product lines and one its most strategic businesses. The Banking Organization offers comprehensive bank platforms and value-added products and services for community, mid-tier and large financial institutions, enabling banks to efficiently manage a wide range of activities such as account opening, deposits, withdrawals, loans, customer information management, general ledger, and commercial online banking services. As a Lawyer for this group, your major responsibilities include preparing and negotiating client, vendor, and other related agreements; providing counsel to sales, account management, product, implementation, and technology leaders on legal matters; and liaising with company specialists regarding intellectual property, technology, privacy, security, regulatory, employment, and litigation matters.
You can look forward to:
- Working directly with business unit representatives to prepare and negotiate client, vendor and other technology-related and commercial agreements.
- Advising business stakeholders on legal, contractual and risk matters impacting their areas of responsibility.
- Providing consultation and legal advice with respect to strategic initiatives, technology projects, customer and vendor contracts, intellectual property, dispute resolution, regulatory matters, corporate policies and procedures, and administration.
- Effectively interacting with corporate specialists regarding finance, audit, tax, publicity/press, intellectual property, litigation, regulatory, privacy and technology matters that affect the business.
- Maintaining knowledge of industry best practices and applicable legislation affecting the operations of the business divisions.
- Developing and maintaining forms of contracts and other legal documentation.
What you must have:
- 3+ years of relevant legal experience, ideally at a fintech.
- Hold a JD from an accredited law school
- Be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction
- Be in good standing with the relevant state bar with no disciplinary record
- Ability to travel up to 10%
What we would prefer you to have:
- Have experience managing client relationships to deliver strong results.
- Have knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance pertaining to banking, payments, lending, and/or other financial services and related consumer protections.
- Have familiarity with financial infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data privacy issues.
- Have prior experience in fintech, software, outsourcing and technology commercial contracting.
- Maintain an understanding of regulatory impact in partnering with financial institutions.
