Lead Accountant

Job Description

This is a hybrid role working partially in-office and partially from home.

This Lead Accountant role will focus on supporting Broker Dealer (BD) and Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) accounting related functions.

This position provides accounting support and oversight of general financial accounting activities for the organization in compliance with regulatory policies. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating the tools, resources, and completion of responsibilities of their area while providing leadership on certain initiatives and functions. Perform account reconciliations, journal entries, cash flow analysis, and other functions. Prepare financial reporting packets (monthly/quarterly). In future state it is anticipated that this role will also support broker dealer focus filings.

Success in this role will require a high level of attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities. Verbal and written communication skills will be critically important to maintain clear and professional communications with teammates and other internal partners.

What you do

• Identifies and executes appropriate actions, within tolerable risk, to complete daily work and solve complex problems
• Prepares monthly and quarterly financial statements for investment advisor and broker dealer entities
• Prepares account reconciliations and provides review other reconciliations and certain transaction of team members
• Prepares broker dealer FOCUS filings and other regulatory reporting.
• Team Lead for projects or programs within manageable risk.
• Technical Lead with respect to transactional accounting accuracy
• Prioritizes own work assignments and responsibilities for daily work, projects, and improving business processes
• Provides support for audits and regulatory examinations by working directly with the auditors and examiners in providing data and answers to inquiries.
• Identifies and adheres to internal controls to maintain the financial integrity of the business area.

What you bring

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance/economics, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
• 3-5 years of accounting related experience in the investment industry required
• Previous broker dealer or registered investment advisor accounting experience desired
