Job Summary:

As a Lead Analytics Engineer at Ruggable, you will provide leadership in extending the business’s data pipelines by visualization, validation and transforming large data sets for both self service and managed reporting. You will report directly to the Sr. Director of Engineering and play a pivotal role in executing our data strategy and fostering data-driven decision-making across the organization.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create reusable data assets, validations of data pipelines and guide the implementation of monitoring systems
  • Build, orchestrate, test, and maintain data transformations of data into analytics models
  • Be a strategic partner for Product and Business teams in identifying critical analytical problems and apply an ambitious mindset to find innovative solutions with data
  • Explore data across the company and work cross-functionally to find opportunities for new data sets that can support our products
  • Developed models from landing DB to various destination schemas (incremental tables, views, and tables)
  • Defining roadmaps/plans for the delivery of innovative data analytics solutions
  • Spearhead the creation of new metrics that impact decision-making
  • Serve as a mentor and resource to other analytics engineers on the team
  • As a senior member of the team, you’ll promote strong standards throughout the organization and help level-up team members through the adoption of software engineering best-practices
  • Helps to define business rules that determines the quality of data, assists the product owner in writing test scripts that validates business rules, and performs detailed and rigorous testing to ensure data quality
  • Collaborating with business owners and analysts to understand data requirements and ensure data accuracy, integrity, and availability
  • Building and optimizing data integration workflows to connect data from different systems, platforms and strengthen our foundational data tables and models
  • Documenting data engineering processes, workflows, and solutions for knowledge sharing and future reference

What You’ll Need to Have:

Required:

  • Minimum of 5+ years relevant experience as an Analytics Engineer or data engineering role, preferably with an AWS backend tech stack
  • Ability to be onsite in Chicago, 2-3 days a week
  • High proficiency in SQL and Python
  • Experience with our data stack or equivalent (Redshift, DBT, Fivetran, Looker, etc.)
  • Ability and flexibility to coordinate and work with teams distributed across time zones, as needed
  • Proactive in adding monitoring and alerting for preventing problems and analyzing performance
  • You have experience leveraging tools for data governance, data quality testing, and documentation
  • Expert knowledge of quality functions like cleansing, standardization, parsing, de-duplication, mapping, hierarchy management, etc.
  • Ability to drive continuous data management quality through defined and governed principles including timeliness, completeness and accuracy.
  • Ability to perform extensive data analysis (comparing multiple datasets) using a variety of tools
  • Excellent problem solver - use of data and technology to solve problems or answer complex data related questions and drive projects and initiatives forward
  • A strong communicator who can develop and deepen strong relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • You're a fast learner and self-starter that can quickly acclimate to a new environment and does not require explicit direction for everything

Preferred:

  • Experience with AWS or relevant cloud tools
  • Infrastructure Logging, Alerting, and Monitoring experience with platforms like DataDog, Cloudwatch
  • Experience in leading engineering teams in development efforts
  • Familiarity with data warehousing principles and best practices
  • DAG development as well as orchestration and modeling tools such as Snowflake, DBT, Airflow
  • Proficient in ETL and data warehousing best practices and core statistics concepts
  • Experience with AWS Lambda functionality and AWS security

Compensation:

  • $145,000 - $155,000 per year base salary
  • An annual bonus percentage that varies based on level of role
  • Employer matching (up to 3% of base salary) for company sponsored 401K plan
