Summary: This position is responsible for writing accurate and efficient program coding, updating and expanding existing programs, debugging existing programs, and testing software with both manual and automated unit test approaches.

What You'll Be Doing:

  1. Is comfortable being the primary development leader for his/her team and is comfortable being the primary technical owner for the application(s) his/her team are responsible for.
  2. Can formulate technical roadmaps that align to business, technical, and architectural goals by regularly interfacing with Senior Management, Technical Leaders, and Architects. Expert in development in one or more of the GuideWire applications. Experience in development of the following: configuration of screens, accelerators, plugins, wizards, batch processes, workflows, edge framework, rating, integrations, underwriting and validation rules, and forms inference
  3. Expert in multiple technologies and design techniques as well as experience working across environments with multiple operating systems/infrastructure with the ability to teach others.
  4. Takes deep ownership for the quality, efficiency, and maintainability for the application(s) their team is responsible for
  5. Knowledgeable of industry trends and innovations and can lead his/her team in the adoption of those items
  6. Deep knowledge of the GuideWire Platform and its various applications: Policy Center, Billing Center, Claim Center, and Contact Manager
  7. Expert in leading development in one or more of the GuideWire applications
  8. Experience in leading development of the following: configuration of screens, accelerators, plugins, wizards, batch processes, workflows, edge framework, rating, integrations, underwriting and validation rules, and forms inference
  9. Mastery of the finer details of full stack, three-tier, API based architectures and is proficient and fluent in all stages of development.
  10. Understands the principles of SQL DBMS including the optimization of database performance using efficient query patterns, sensible schema design, and DB indexes
  11. Ensure that the team adheres to GOSU best practices to produce efficient, self-documenting code using SOLID and DRY programming practices
  12. Ensures that all code undergoes detailed peer-to-peer code review to identify poor practices and potential bugs before they arise
  13. Implements best DevOps practices including pipeline automation and modern testing practices as they apply to the GuideWire framework
  14. Responsible for ensuring that Shift Left practices are followed, including the design, execution, and documentation of developer Unit Tests with an emphasis on automation.
  15. Lead his/her team in applying the principles of automation where possible to all aspects of the development process
  16. Ensures that his/her team provides accurate and up-to-date documentation for their team's application(s).
  17. Fulfills administrative reporting requirements.
  18. Will act as a lead and coach less experienced team members on technology, process or projects.
  19. Leads a collaborative environment and willingly shares experience and newfound knowledge with co-workers.

What You'll Bring To The Company:

  • Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in Information Technology or equivalent in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or similar degree.
  • 5 or more years of prior GuideWire experience preferred.
  • Proficient in a multiple business disciplines/functions and can easily do work across different functions.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in learning and using multiple development languages.
  • Excellent organization skills, with proven analytical, planning, communication, problem solving and decision-making skills.
