Here's the Gist:

Overmolded Power Module (OPM) product line offers some of the most differentiated, disruptive and value-added SiC solutions within the automotive industry. We market our power modules globally to innovating market-leading customers. As Lead Applications Engineer for traction you will be responsible for leading and coordinating technical activities within the application and system engineering team dedicated to automotive traction. You will also be responsible for support for both existing and new customers within the OPM product line. You will interface with Product Marketing, Technical Marketing and Product Development teams and coordinate activities within the application and system engineering team dedicated to automotive traction. You will also interface with key customers and support the development of product roadmaps.

The Day-to-Day:

  • Coordinate and drive the development of collateral and hardware demonstrators for traction inverter products that showcase the vision and value of Wolfspeed OPM product line
  • Work closely with key customer account for support in all aspects of traction inverter system
  • Provide remote and on-site customer support to key customer accounts for the integration of OPM products in their traction inverter designs
  • Interface with Product Marketing, Technical Marketing and Product Development teams
  • Interface with internal teams on testing and characterization testbeds for OPM product

This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ year of experience developing and testing > 50kW power electronics systems.
  • Experience developing and testing traction inverter system (100-300 kW) and background as application engineer is preferred
  • Strong understanding of power electronics systems including semiconductor technology, gate drives, electrical and thermal designs, etc.
  • Experience managing technical programs and coordinating activities within a small technical team
  • Experience in schematic capture and PCB layout for minimal stray inductance and capacitance, placement strategies for high switching speed and high-power applications
  • Experience in developing thermal management approaches for power electronics
  • Experience in simulation tools (Spice, PLECS, etc.) for power conversion
  • Excellent communication skills (i.e., verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Some travel will be required
