This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Lead Automation Test Engineer in United Kingdom.
This is an exciting opportunity for experienced automation testing professionals to play a key role in shaping quality engineering practices across complex, modern software environments. Working remotely, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable automation frameworks while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality product delivery. The role offers the chance to influence testing strategies, promote shift-left methodologies, and enhance CI/CD-driven workflows. You will operate in dynamic, fast-paced environments, supporting large-scale systems and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Candidates must hold active security clearance, as projects operate within regulated and secure environments.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automated testing solutions across complex applications and systems.
- Build and enhance scalable automation frameworks for web, API, and service-based testing environments.
- Collaborate closely with developers, analysts, and delivery teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Review existing manual test cases, identifying opportunities for automation and optimization.
- Execute automated functional, regression, and integration tests across multiple releases and environments.
- Manage defect tracking, reporting, and resolution processes with clear documentation and follow-up.
- Contribute to test planning, estimation, reporting, and release readiness activities.
- Drive adoption of shift-left testing practices and improve automation maturity within CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong experience in automation testing within enterprise or regulated environments.
- Hands-on expertise with automation tools such as Selenium, along with proficiency in C# and/or JavaScript.
- Proven ability to design and implement automated test cases for UI and service-based applications.
- Experience building, maintaining, and scaling automation frameworks.
- Solid understanding of QA methodologies, defect management, and software testing best practices.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within distributed teams.
- Active SC clearance, or SC + NPPV3, valid or nearing renewal (within 3 months).
- Nice to have: experience with Playwright, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, cloud-based testing tools, and reporting frameworks such as Allure or Extent.
