Job Description

At Harley-Davidson, cloud computing continues to allow us to modernize and consolidate IT infrastructure, automate workloads, and pursue next-generation innovation. To continue this transformation, we're seeking an experienced Microsoft Azure cloud engineer with expertise in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects in the cloud. The ideal candidate is experienced in cloud-based tech, with a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, and ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. Extensive knowledge of cloud maintenance, cloud governance, and advanced industry knowledge is key to keeping us on the cutting edge. Objectives of this Role

  • Build, improve, and perhaps reimagine platform capabilities and services while addressing a variety of technical needs & issues including automation/self-service, security concerns around identity & access, data protection, CICD security, high availability, monitoring, scalability, self-healing, and effective cost postures
  • Work in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company
  • Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance
  • Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to development teams to build cloud competencies
  • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design
  • Managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines
  • Accountable for verifying that cloud service model meets appropriate compliance/governance requirements
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement technical efforts to design, build, and deploy Azure applications at the direction of lead architects, including large-scale data processing, computationally intensive statistical modeling, and advanced analytics
  • Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle for Azure solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures
  • Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required
  • Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity
  • Lead various technical, infrastructure and application efforts and initiatives. Manage and execute system/application installation, patching, rollouts, releases and upgrades ensuring technical standards and strategies are being followed
Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or mathematics
  • 5+ years of experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions
  • Experience in automation, configuration management and deployment of enterprise scale infrastructures using Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation or ARM
  • Sound understanding of Identity & Access Management, including Azure AD MFA, Azure AD Conditional Access, Azure AD Privileged Identity Management, Azure AD B2B and Azure AD Application Proxy
  • Hands on experience with MS Windows/Linux setup, configuration, patching and upgrades
  • Proven track record of performance tuning, capacity planning, and backup/recovery strategy
  • Securing Microsoft Client/Server Operating Systems including related services such as Certificate Authority, authentication/authorization mechanisms, encryption and health attestation
  • Experience in several of the following areas: database architecture, ETL, business intelligence, big data, machine learning, advanced analytics
  • Using your extensive knowledge of APIs to design RESTful services, and integrate them with existing data providers, using JSON or XML as needed.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, data scientists, and subject matter experts
  • Certification as an Azure Solutions Architect, Cloud Security Certification, and/or OpenStack Administrator Certification a plus. (Other cloud-related certification also a plus.)
Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as an Azure Solutions Architect or Cloud Security Certification a plus. (Other cloud-related certification also a plus.)
  • Experience in the following areas: database architecture, ETL, business intelligence, big data, machine learning, advanced analytics
  • Knowledge of APIs to design RESTful services, and integrate them with existing data providers, using JSON or XML as needed.
  • Azure, AWS certifications are a plus
  • Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks
  • Database experience, including knowledge of SQL and NoSQL, and related data stores such as Postgres
  • Extensive experience with open-source technology, software development and system engineering
  • Strong background in core Data Center infrastructure such as server, storage, and networking. Background in X86 (Linux, Windows) and AIX platforms a plus
