WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a lead engineer with the skills to automate repeatable processes, develop integrated solutions, and help deliver a seamless multi-cloud deployment and reporting platform.

The candidate will have demonstrable experience coding and scripting using languages like Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, etc. Understand serverless architectures and continuous integration & deployment (CI/CD), plus GraphQL and RESTful API development. Understanding of infrastructure-as-code technologies (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager), source code management (e.g. GitHub), and build automation (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions) are also required.

Our preferred candidate is a leader, team-player and a self-starter with a passion for learning and growing. Attention to detail and the ability to communicate to a highly technical audience are desired qualifications.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

As a lead software engineer on our Cloud Automation team, you will be responsible for providing technical direction for a team that serves other engineering, data, or business-facing teams. Our technical solutions serve the end-to-end breadth of Nike, streamlining the software development lifecycle to improve developer productivity, delivery speed, and code quality. Working closely with product, development, operations, and security teams, you will identify and resolve issues and inefficiencies in delivery workflows. Key responsibilities include automating delivery processes and maintaining the continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. Orchestrating automated tests to reduce manual effort and improve product quality.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will work with a team of engineers that serve all of Nike Global Technology. You will be expected to be comfortable interacting with other engineers and product managers from all facets of technology development at Nike.

This is a dynamic team, solving problems every day in technology areas related to cloud infrastructure, automated testing and continuous deployment across Nike Engineering teams. We build our products to run reliably and at scale, quality is built into our solutions upfront, with a testing and quality mentality being a crucial attribute of our team. We value robust, up-to-date, readable documentation. Abilities to translate technical details is an important aspect of our day-to-day tasks. We are creative, innovative, and continually learning.

WHAT YOU BRING

- A variety of programming languages including Java, JavaScript, Python, Groovy.

- The following technologies: Multi-cloud (AWS preferred), Jenkins, Terraform, CloudFormation, Serverless, SQL, NOSQL.

- Designing and building simple/intuitive APIs from infrastructure to the client.

- Agile delivery methodologies in a fast-paced complex environment - Scrum, SAFe.

- Familiarity and experience in the latest continuous delivery methodologies.

- Experience with Git tool and GitHub.

- Proven leadership ability.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other relevant subject area or combination of relevant education, experience, and training

- 6+ years of professional experience as a software engineer.

- 3+ years of professional experience leading a technical team.

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

- Demonstrated leadership capability, including ability to motivate and mentor others within work group.

- Ability to partner with business and technology team members, to understand business requirements and translate those into value-add technology solutions.

- Passion for coaching, teaching, mentoring and learning.

- Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and engineering teams.
