Lead Coding Specialist

Position Summary:

Abstracts and assign diagnoses and procedure codes for the medical records of discharged

patients, including inpatients, day surgery, observation, and outpatient records using ICD-9-

CM and CPT-4 classification systems and 3M encoder software for Grouper determination.

Conducts data quality reviews, and serves as trainer for other coding staff. Demonstrates a

good understanding of MS-DRG and APC assignment and reimbursement . Assists in

reconciling coding and billing issues. Supports and exemplifies the hospital established AEC

Values and Standards of Behavior.

Schedule: 40 HR Mon-Fri

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent , Must be a graduate of an AHIMA accredited program with completion of the CCS/RHIT/RHIA programs including the successful completion of the registration exam

Experience: Minimum of one to three years coding experience in an Acute Care Hospital preferred
