Lead, Commercial Financial Planning & Analysis - Contractor

POSITION SUMMARY

Amylyx is seeking a Contractor, Lead, Commercial Financial Planning & Analysis who has strong analytical and communication skills to play a critical role in supporting our high growth; a key business partner supporting our Commercial organization. 

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Financial Planning & Analysis, this role requires customer-focused mindset to collaborate with commercial and accounting team to deliver insightful financial analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Act as a financial business partner for the commercial function, provide financial advice and analysis to optimize strategic and operational decisions including planning and analyzing operating expense spending and headcount for the function.
• Support developing and maintaining monthly financial reporting and analysis packages. Improve efficiency and automation of management reporting and analytics to leverage Adaptive Insights.  Assist in the preparation of consolidated monthly and quarterly financial review presentations.
• Collaborate with Accounting to support monthly accrual process, review and ensure the accuracy of the monthly financials and deliver business support.
• Deliver monthly budget vs. actual results to business partners units and leadership. Prepare monthly variance analysis of actuals to forecast and budget, investigate, and explain any major discrepancies, and understand key business drivers.
• Partner with commercial team to support the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecast updates. Assist with managing the budget and improving forecasting accuracy, including tracking headcount.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams by providing strong customer service and delivering insightful financial analyses that will support operational efficiency.
• Be part of the functional leaderships team(s), understand business needs, have an influencer voice.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BS degree in business/finance/accounting; MBA or CPA preferred
• Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience with a minimum of 3 years in the life sciences industry
• Strong Budgeting system and ERP skills, Adaptive Insights and NetSuite experience is a strong plus
• Strong competences in accounting
• Demonstrated success in partnering with business functions and accounting
• Strong analytical skills and strong attention in detail with expertise in short-term and long-term planning, budgeting and forecasting required
• Strong communication and presentation skills a must; ability to present at all levels including senior management
• Biotech/pharmaceutical company experience preferred
• International experience is a plus
