Role Summary:

The Lead Content Developer is responsible for overseeing a highly effective GIS/tax research and content function that delivers accurate and timely content enhancements and updates to customers of ONESOURCE™ applications and offerings.

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for day-to-day supervision of all processes and procedures for high quality content releases that meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Writes new software, makes modifications to existing software, or integrates software applications and modules in accordance with agreed upon specifications, created in partnership with others
  • Creates and executes unit testing and integration testing ensuring software meets requirements.
  • Contributes to the creation of design. May lead the design of less complex components.
  • Develops and coaches team members
  • Assigns and delegates work to staff
  • Responsible for meeting assigned schedules and targets
  • Participates in performance management process
  • Participates in process improvement initiatives
  • Communicate and discuss concepts/procedures with tax professionals as well as non-tax professionals functioning as a technical person with knowledge of indirect tax advising internally and externally.
  • Lead content projects; planning and estimates, resourcing, detailed design requirements, implementation, and rigorous quality assurance; assign tasks, track and monitor progress, report status
  • Provide expertise to business unit peers within Product Management, Marketing, and Customer Support
  • Learning and developing technical skills required to work effective with python, SQL and geodatabases
  • Clearly documenting all projects/tools/scripts developed
  • Contributing to the testing of tax content changes for quality assurance

Technical /Professional Skills & Competencies:

Essential Skills:

  • Minimum five (5)+ years indirect tax experience; some experience leading teams
  • Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent knowledge and deep understanding of the GIS/TAX logic that directly impacts Indirect Tax rules and regulations that impact tax calculation and compliance; Deep analytical skills with the ability to determine the accurate GIS/tax decision with appropriate legal support
  • Ability to handle complex content projects in a multi-tasking environment, perform research, meet strict content deadlines and budgets
  • Detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability for analysis and problem-solving skills, including ability to interpret, analyze and organize detailed legal material
  • Ability to consistently meet rigid and recurring deadlines
  • Ability to put the customer at the center of content activities and decision-making, from supporting a tax jurisdiction legislation change to content implementation and delivery by enforcing the proper geographical logic.
  • An understanding of how customers use ONESOURCE™ offerings and the impact of decisions on the customer's tax compliance from the geography analyses
  • Problem-solver, highly creative and able to think innovatively to propose alternative content implementation solutions to resolve complex tax problems with the proper spatial data.
  • Willing to travel up to 10%

Desired Skills:

  • Four (4)+ years tax calculation and compliance software (e.g. ONESOURCE™) experience
  • Ability to automate processes using Python, SQL, and REST services a plus
  • Strong understanding of database concepts (data types, queries, filters, table design)
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of and acts as a resource to others on all relevant systems and processes
  • Intermediate to advance software skills (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Word, Access)
  • Fluency in languages other than English

Education/ Certifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in geography, information systems, computer science or related field is a plus
  • Experience with PYTHON, Oracle, and SQL preferred.
