Our Legal team plays a crucial role in ensuring that we comply with regulations and standards, while driving innovation in digital health and artificial intelligence (AI). As a member of our global Legal team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects and collaborate with diverse teams, driving our commitment to ethical and compliant AI and digital solutions.

As an experienced and dynamic Lead Counsel in Singapore, specialized in Digital, IT, and AI matters in the APAC region, you will provide expert legal guidance to support our exciting digital transformation initiatives. You are required to have a deep understanding of the relevant digital, privacy, and security laws in APAC (as well as knowledge of global AI regulatory efforts) and other relevant digital and data regimes. You will report to the Head of Legal Data, Digital & Privacy, located in Basel, Switzerland.

Your Opportunity

In this role, you will:

  • Monitor, analyse, and drive operationalization related to digital, privacy and security-related legislative and regulatory developments across APAC. 

  • Serve as a liaison with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, industry associations, and legal experts, to stay updated on industry trends and advocate for Roche's interests. Proactively influence digital, privacy and security legislation and regulation across APAC. 

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on APAC digital, privacy and security laws within Roche’s global Legal team. 

  • Ensure that Roche's AI, IT, and digital initiatives comply with all relevant legal requirements in the APAC region. Coordination with the local legal departments in various Roche APAC affiliates will be necessary. 

  • Conduct comprehensive legal analysis and deliver strategic advice on various AI, IT, digital and security matters, including data economy, data privacy, intellectual property, and compliance risks.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and monitor adherence with company policies and best practices concerning AI and digital technology usage.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to digital health and AI projects, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and company objectives.

  • Provide training and updates to internal stakeholders on legal developments related to digital, privacy and AI regulations in APAC, fostering a culture of compliance and ethical practices.

  • Advise the Roche Pune, India site on all legal matters, including data privacy, access to data, software licensing as well as corporate matters.

Who You Are

  • Educational Background: University Degree in Law plus Bar Exam, ideally with a focus on technology law, data privacy, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional legal experience in a law firm or in-house, with a proven track record in digital health, AI, data privacy, or a related domain.

  • Regulatory Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the relevant digital and privacy laws in APAC (basic knowledge of EU/US AI/digital matters) and other relevant digital and data legal frameworks.

  • Skills:

    • Strong analytical and system-thinking abilities, capable of understanding complex regulatory landscapes.

    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the capacity to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.

    • A proactive and collaborative team player, able to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Networking: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective professional networks within the legal and digital health communities.
