Lead Curriculum Developer, Math (Grade 2)
Job Description
Amplify is developing a new K-12 math curriculum that is (1) consistent with a student-centered, problem based pedagogical philosophy, (2) supports students and teachers in developing positive math identities, (3) demonstrates the utility, power, and beauty of math, (4) builds inclusive classroom communities that celebrate diversity, and (5) assists educators in orchestrating productive mathematical discussions.
The Lead Curriculum Developer (CD) will work closely with the Curriculum Manager and fellow CDs to author the print components of the Amplify Math curriculum, while also reviewing digital content and collaborating with other teams (e.g., Product, Design, Editorial, Graphing, etc.).
Responsibilities of the Lead Curriculum Developer:
- Collaborate with Curriculum Managers to create a vision and approach for Elementary Math that meets product principles
- Create templates and prototypes for curricular materials, including revisions based on feedback
- Assist Curriculum Manager in planning of unit scope, sequence, and narrative.
- Write student-facing and teacher-facing math content (lessons, practice questions, projects, etc.) for print math environments for Grade 2.
- Participate in workshops with Design and Prototyping resources.
- Meet weekly with the digital authoring team to ideate and provide feedback on digital versions of content.
- Peer-edit manuscripts with fellow CDs and review print proofs.
- AssistCurriculum Managers in coordinating the curriculum team's review of print proofs and digital products and responses to the editorial team and vendor.
- Regularly check against errata trackers, making fixes to print components where appropriate.
Basic Qualifications of the Lead Curriculum Developer:
- Bachelor's in mathematics, mathematics education, or similarly relevant subject area
- 5+ years of experience working either (1) in educational settings, with evidence of excellence in instruction in elementary grades or (2) at a PK-12 curriculum publishing company, with a focus on mathematics.
- Commitment to creating a representative, equitable curriculum that supports traditionally marginalized students.
- Understand the progression of common core standards relative to grade level bands.
- When travel restrictions are lifted, able to travel (approx 5%) to Amplify's New York Office Headquarters for occasional workshops
Preferred Qualifications of the Lead Curriculum Developer:
- Experience developing or implementing a problem-based curriculum
- Advanced degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or related field
- Proven experience working with students of diverse levels of preparation and backgrounds
What we offer:

The gross salary range for this role is $85,000 - $95,000.
