Lead Data Engineer

Job Summary

The Lead Data Engineer will lead team through complex integration projects, accountable for delivery and maintain technical ownership of one or more business facing technologies to deliver business outcomes.  This role will conduct peer review code from junior developers on team and mentor and coach others on an informal basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead team through complex integration projects, accountable for delivery
• Maintain technical ownership of one or more business facing technologies to deliver business outcomes
• Lead, support, and interact with various IT teams and LOBs on integration efforts
• Define strategic requirements, roadmap, or direction for data integration capabilities
• Assist in design of data integration architecture and solutions
• Support team of on-shore and off-shore Informatica developers to deliver exceptional quality and meet all project deadlines
• Lead technical aspects of data management functions including creating, loading, transforming, cleansing, processing, analyzing, and visualizing data
• Collaborate with management to develop estimates for project and maintenance work
• Lead collaboration with business and technology stakeholders to define future-state business capabilities & requirements and assists with translating those into transitional and target state data architectures
• Develop ETL logic utilizing Informatica workflows, scripting, and load utilities
• Work with multiple development technologies including SQL
• Translate undefined and defined business problems, objectives, and goals into functional solutions
• Drive planning and coordination on medium to large sized remediation efforts, acting as central point of contact
• Peer review code from junior developers on team
• Mentor and coach others on an informal basis

Experience and Education Requirements

• Associate’s/Bachelor's Degree (preferred emphasis in in technology, engineering or math related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience 
• 8-9 years of experience designing, building, and supporting near real-time data pipelines and analytical solutions using Informatica
• 3+ years of experience leading the design process with both technical and business partners
• 3+ years of experience in supporting ETL, production data operations (File processing, data distribution etc.,) including debugging, addressing production issues and performing Root Cause Analysis
• Expert writer of SQL queries and interpreting data models
• Significant experience writing automated unit, integration, and acceptance tests for data interfaces & data pipelines
• Experience with SQL Server, SSIS, and/or Oracle
• High level understanding of object-oriented analysis and design
• Experience building data pipelines and interfaces with object-oriented languages (.Net, Java, Python)

Preferred Requirements

• Exposure working with Data Security teams
• Preferred to have experience in supporting DTCC and data transfers from / to external organizations and internal systems using EFT (Electronic File Transfer)
• Working knowledge of Informatica Data Quality, Business Glossary, Metadata Manager
• Experience with database design/modeling tools such as Erwin
• Experience within a Financial Services/Insurer’s IT Organization
• Prior leadership experience
• Experience with API coding and implementation
• Familiar with SDLC methodologies, such as Agile and Waterfall
• Experience in Product Implementations in Insurance industry
