Lead Data Engineer

This role offers the opportunity to lead the design and development of scalable data platforms that power advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making across global projects. You will work in a fast-paced, engineering-driven environment where data is central to product innovation and business strategy. The position involves building robust data pipelines, optimizing large-scale data systems, and ensuring seamless data flow across multiple sources and platforms. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into reliable technical solutions. With a strong focus on cloud-based architectures and modern data tooling, this role blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership. You will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to establishing best practices in data engineering excellence.

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines using modern data engineering practices.
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources including MongoDB, relational databases, and APIs.
• Design and manage data processing solutions leveraging Snowflake for staging, transformation, and analytics.
• Develop solutions to flatten and normalize complex semi-structured data (e.g., JSON from NoSQL systems) into structured relational models.
• Ensure high-performance database design and optimization in MySQL, including indexing and query tuning.
• Automate data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration workflows for batch and real-time processing.
• Implement data quality, governance, security, and compliance standards across pipelines and datasets.
• Maintain logging, monitoring, and instrumentation for data systems to ensure reliability and observability.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, supporting technical growth and best practice adoption.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering roles with strong hands-on expertise in pipeline development and data architecture.
• Strong proficiency in working with Snowflake, including semi-structured data handling using VARIANT and SQL-based transformations.
• Solid experience with MongoDB, MySQL, and relational database design principles.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT development, data modeling, and large-scale data processing.
• Experience building batch and/or real-time data pipelines in production environments.
• Good programming skills in Python (preferred), including familiarity with ETL frameworks such as Rivery or Informatica.
• Strong understanding of data quality, security, governance, and performance optimization.
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Strong communication skills and experience mentoring or leading engineering teams.
