Department Summary:

The Center for Securing the Homeland (CSH) Data Analytics Division is seeking a Data Scientist who will join a team of Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Data Engineers, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineers. The explosion of data and complexity of problems facing MITRE's sponsors requires an innovative approach which MITRE is leading through the application of new technology and techniques. Of note are cybersecurity and cyber analytics challenges facing MITRE's sponsor in their mission to protect government networks and investigate cyber-crime. As a Data Scientist, you will work on real-world problems through the application of sound engineering principles. Candidates who identify as AI Engineers, Data Engineers, Cloud Engineers, Software Developers, or Software Engineers with a strong data focus will be considered for this position.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adapted to a variety of audiences
• Demonstrated experience organizing and visualizing analytic results
• Demonstrated experience with one or more programming language such as R, Python, C++, or Java
• Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, related field or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
• 6+ years experience in a data focused work environment
• Experience in a customer-facing environment
• Experience leading data science projects
• Experience with cybersecurity focused data analysis
• Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP), video, or image analytics
• Experience working with geospatial datasets
• Experience deploying services or applications in AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform
• Experience with cloud based analytic or machine learning (ML) platforms such as AWS Athena or AWS SageMaker
• Experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Spark
• Experience with one or more database systems such as MongoDB, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
• Experience with DevOps, MLOps, CI/CD, or Agile
• Experience in leading teams resulting in work products of comprehensive written reports, presentations, and charts based on research, collection, and analysis of data
• Experience with organizing or visually displaying analytic results for further analysis
• Experience visualizing multi-dimensional data using tools such as Tableau, Qlik, Kibana, neo4j, ggplot2, Plotly, matplotlib, or D3.js.
