About TG...

Tarabut Gateway (TG) is the first and largest regulated Open Banking platform in the MENA, with offices in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the UAE. TG connects a regional network of banks and FinTechs via a universal application programming interface (API). By offering tools that allow the facilitation and distribution of personalized financial services, TG enables financial institutions to build a new world of financial services in MENA.

From our earliest days, we quickly became the region’s first applicant to a ‘regulatory sandbox’ through the Central Bank of Bahrain.

The clear objective is to build an infrastructure that accelerates an industry transformation. A multisided platform that connects banks, fintechs, merchants, in the MENA region all on one platform, enabling a new realm of partnerships to be forged.

Fast forward to today, TG is in partnership with the largest banks in many countries. Our products are being built in Bahrain and will be ready to be shipped to other markets. At present we are focusing on scaling up our software engineering and product team to continue to better serve the lives of all 550 million people in the region.

This is the beginning of our journey, and as we see early stage fintech start to emerge in other jurisdictions, there is no better time than now for the TG Platform to play its part in driving this new realm of financial services in MENA.

Requirements

As our Lead Data Scientist, you’ll be one of earliest hires and playing a key role in the company. You will be joining the newly created data team, reporting into our future Head of Data (whom we’re hiring for now) and working alongside our Head of Software Engineering and Chief Technology Officer.

As a result of the high growth and our speed of scaling, this is a role that will offer future opportunities to move into a management or principal position depending on your ambitions. We are looking for someone that is confident and autonomous to help lay the groundwork, in a completely greenfield environment, building a plan and execution for value creation by means of our data science capability. You’ll be responsible for researching and developing innovative solutions, being hands-on but also strategically input where data science adds value and how such projects will be executed. You will be expected to contribute to embed data science best practices, and be involved in requirement gathering, acting as the bridge between the data team and wider business. You will lead on analysis, experimentation, evaluation and delivery to ensure we’re building a new wave of customer experience in the region.

What you'll have...

▪ Experience leading data team(s) to a business unit or a business problem

▪ Experience in data science, data engineering and analytical functions

▪ Experience with data processing, feature engineering and data retrieval from messaging services

▪ Experience working with large and complex data sets, technologies and tools to deliver products, services and optimising the performance of existing data pipelines

▪ Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP (understands serverless technologies) and selection of technologies that are built for scale and “big data” such as data lakes and warehousing architectures

▪ Experience with modern data processing tools such as AWS (S3, Redshift, Snowflake, Lambda, Glue, DynamoDB, EMR) or Azure (DataFactory, Data Bricks, StreamAnalytics) SQL and Python coding

▪ Practical background or education in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, data management, information systems, information science or other related quantitative field

▪ Experience with local and remote/distributed teams a plus

▪ Experience within the fintech, payments or Open Banking space a bonus
