Lead Design Engineer

The Lead Design Engineer focus will be to bring experience, knowledge, leadership, and direction to the Sub-Zero Production Design Engineering team in Goodyear, AZ.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Generate and convert product design ideas into robust solutions while working independently and with cross-functional teams.
• Evaluate and implement product design solutions in support of warranty, cost, and manufacturability improvements in product assembly and fabrication.
• Present product design solutions for review by product and management teams.
• Direct and evaluate product design improvements through 3D modeling, drafting, tooling and testing.
• Conduct product design improvement cost analysis and feasibility studies.
• Lead design technical staff.
• Assist in closing gaps within design staff to provide needed support, via training, mentoring and resource allocation.
• Self-starter who can satisfy their goals and timelines.

Project Management

• Plan, schedule, and organize workload.
• Direct, review, and approve work done by Engineers, Designers, and Drafters.
• Determine and coordinate test requirements and analyze results against product requirements.

Work cross functionally with:

• Manufacturing business units to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
• Reliability and Service personnel to identify field problems and develop robust solutions.
• Purchasing including suppliers to drive improvements to purchased components.
• Quality Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to identify in-house improvement opportunities.
• Marketing, Sales, and product governance teams to ensure consistency among all product lines and smooth implementation of customer-facing improvements.
