Lead Designer

Worlds Untold is seeking a Lead Designer to join our studio and be a key part of the creation of a new AAA game & IP. You will work directly with the project leadership to help shape the culture and values of who we are and who we want to become as a studio. As one of the key leaders on our team you will own and champion the game design vision for our flagship title.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with project leadership to align game design with the vision of the IP and world

• Develop a cohesive design vision with the team that enhances the overall game direction and meets project objectives

• Lead the creation and implementation of critical features focusing on player satisfaction

• Mentor the design team to maintain high performance and job satisfaction

• Advocate for the design department while building strong interdepartmental and external (independent contractors and/or co-development partners) relationships

• Foster team alignment on game design initiatives ensuring clear communication of intent and reasoning among all developers

• Work alongside leaders from various disciplines to overcome challenges and brainstorm innovative solutions

• Proactively address design challenges and incorporate feedback from playtesting to refine game features

Basic Qualifications:

• Curious collaborative and independent problem solver

• Passion for playing and making games and an excellent understanding of what makes them fun

• 12+ years of overall experience and additional experience as a Lead on a AAA Game

• Ability to provide both focused and inspiring creative leadership

• Excellent pitching and public speaking skills

• Effective decision-making capabilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong proficiency in Unreal Engine and its various tools and systems

• Serve as a coach and mentor to designers assisting them in the resolution of complex problems and growing their skills and knowledge

• Experience in AAA game development focused on single player narrative driven games

• Experience and openness to working with a variety of co-development teams

Compensation Range:

• Canada: $100000 - $160000 CAD

• United States: $113000 - $208000 USD
