Our 3 development teams are each creating an original game:

  • Firewalk™ is working on a new multiplayer IP to be exclusively published by PlayStation
  • Cauldron™ is developing an adventure game
  • Battle Barge™ is creating a co-op RPG
We secured the largest Series A raise in gaming history at $250 million, which provides our teams with the resources and creative environment needed to foster stable, fulfilling and life-long careers.

THE ROLE:

We are seeking a Lead Engineer who is experienced in Engine and tools development for games. Being able to partner with game development teams and support them through incubation to shipping.

The role for Lead Engine & Tools is responsible for the technical direction, technical roadmap and management of our software engineers while overseeing the development of engine and tools for games under development. This includes managing engineers and while partnering closely with the rest of the platform teams to iterate towards a technical vision in game development platforms. This role directs and ensures collaboration with other departments such as IT, game studios, and production to ensure that the games are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. The Lead of Engine and tools will be responsible utilizing engineering best practices, foresight and knowledge of industry, hiring and allocating software engineers, supporting individuals' craft growth, and maintaining a healthy team environment for teams of software engineers.

The salary range for this position is $169,000 - $262,000. This range represents the salary for the position commensurate with experience, knowledge, and demonstrated success in the field.

  • Have worked in multiple engineering roles during the shipping of games.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Directs and manages a software engineering team that is responsible for the design, development, testing, and maintenance of an engine and tools under development.
  • Responsible for the technical direction, technical roadmap and decisions within the engine and tools team.
  • Anticipates problem areas and develops preventative solutions for highly complex software engineering challenges.
  • Responsible for milestones being delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather requirement and develop game software that meets the project objectives.
  • Manage and mentor a group of software engineers, including performance management and career development.
  • Provide daily feedback to direct reports and management to ensure team is growing in a positive direction.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key technology partners, and keep up-to-date with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience working in software development on modern consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, PC etc.).
  • Experience leading highly strategic/complex/high risk undertakings.
  • Experience in defining the creative vision, technical specifications, and feasibility for assigned software products.
  • Experience in mentoring other engineers and providing insightful feedback on engineering efforts.
  • Preferred experience in feature ownership within software development.
  • Exceptional understanding in one or more of the following platforms: UE/C++ or a proprietary game engine and the ability to manage a team with similar skill sets.
  • Fluent understanding of modern software workflows including blueprint & scripting languages, or any other toolset related to the given discipline of game development.
  • Strong understanding of 3D math (ex. Vector Math, Linear algebra).
  • Experience working with and leading cross-discipline teams within Video Games.
  • Able to manage and lead discussions around technical limitations, scope, and scheduling.
  • Experienced with budgeting, workbooks, documentation, staffing plans & estimations.
  • Familiarity working in a fast-moving environment.
PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • 12 or more years of related or equivalent work experience.
  • Shipped multiple games on Unreal Engine
  • Experience with integrating middleware and outsourcers into studio pipelines
