Lead Engineer

Resource Innovations is seeking a Lead Engineer to join our growing team in Chicago. As a Lead Engineer with Resource Innovations, you will support the delivery of energy efficiency programs in Northern Illinois ensuring engineering excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Forge and maintain excellent client relationships to position Resource Innovations as a go-to provider of engineering services
• Develop and review energy efficiency project deliverables which include: assessment reports, energy calculations, and measurement & verification data
• Perform energy efficiency calculations by using spreadsheet and/or energy simulation modeling
• Produce high quality deliverables (reports and spreadsheets) with limited QC review
• Provide the highest level of customer service, including reliability and responsiveness
• Provide advanced technical direction to other staff. Mentor and train junior engineers on various energy efficiency areas, including energy auditing, inspections, and measurement & verification
• Delegate and oversee the quality and timeliness of multiple project deliverables performed by other engineering staff
• Maintain the highest level of quality control for deliverables (for your work and others); demonstrating technical excellence, objectivity, and clarity while maintaining and advancing projects
• Must be able to travel locally 20% of the time
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical or similar engineering preferred; PE preferred or intent to pursue. Relevant work experience will also be considered.
• A strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and principles; including HVAC, lighting, motors, thermodynamics, fluids, and heat transfer
• Minimum 5 years of experience within the energy efficiency or building efficiency industries.
• Energy auditing experience
• Strong customer relationship skills
• Experience reviewing the work of colleagues and/or contractors
• Proven time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once while meeting deliverable deadlines and budgets
• Experience in the following areas is a plus:
  • Design and specification of HVAC, electrical, or building automation/controls
  • Building and energy modeling/simulation tools (eg eQUEST, EnergyPro Trace)
