Lead Engineer, Game Engine - Central Tech

As lead engineer of a new core engine team at Bungie, you will help develop new technologies and workflow upgrades for our award-winning proprietary “Tiger Engine”. Your team will build new frameworks for continuous integration, automated testing, code integration and engine customization that allow us to share engine upgrades more easily between different game projects. You will align with customers across various game projects on the priority and delivery schedule of engine upgrades. Finally, you will lead and mentor engineers in the engineering culture, technology, and best practices that enable us to empower content creators across Bungie to do their best work and ultimately improve our ability to create great games more effectively.Â
RESPONSIBILITIESÂ
- Manage engineers, providing support, mentorship, constructive feedback, and career development guidance
- Work with Central Technology leadership to define the future of our proprietary game engine
- Represent the game engine team to key stakeholders, balancing and prioritizing requests against the team’s roadmap
- Design, build, test, and maintain game engine improvements
- Be a key contributor in architecture reviews for game engine frameworksÂ
REQUIRED SKILLSÂ
- Willingness to be part of a “we” culture.  You work well with others to reach common goals— team fit and culture are especially important to us
- Experience leading teams developing complex products with high cross-team dependencies
- Ability to manage or mentor other engineers
- Understanding of game engine development practices and ability to write C++ engine code
- Ability to communicate with customers of different technical and non-technical backgrounds to help them navigate technology and achieve their goalsÂ
NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLSÂ
- Experience with a proprietary game engine shared between multiple projects
- Familiar with agile software development (e.g., scrum, kanban, etc.)Â

- 20 days of accrued time-off in the form of PTO and sabbatical days, depending on the level of the position
- 10 paid Floating Days annually, prorated in the first year of employment based on start date
