LEAD ENGINEER, IT - APPS

Position Summary:

This position will design, develop, implement, and support designated systems. This includes complete life cycle participation - meeting with users to define requirements, formulate solutions using COBOL, IBM Mainframe SQL, Snowflake and other applications, participate in system design, coding and testing applications and provide ongoing day-to-day support.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Gathers detailed requirements from business users for approved projects and/or enhancements to existing projects. - - Determines how changing business needs will affect existing systems. Must quickly learn new areas of the business to provide adequate support as business needs change.

• Lead system design including definition of technical approach. Responsible for coding from general specifications; will perform new development and/or maintain existing systems, depending on assignment.

• Develop job control, PROCS and/or stored procedures in support of a programming assignment.

• Generate both program and system level test data and perform positive and negative testing of all technical assignments.

• Develop and/or update documentation (user and internal technical) as project requires.

• Follow team and company coding standards and guidelines utilizing structured techniques.

• Lead work of multiple projects, prioritize workload and quickly change directions to focus on new projects/priorities.

• Flexibility to be on call (support systems/implementation of projects/fix problems/etc.).

• Other programming and/or analytical duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in IT, Business or related field preferred

• Minimum of 7 years of IT experience

• Strong working knowledge of COBOL, IBM job control language, VSAM (KSDS & ESDS) and CICS.

• Strong knowledge developing applications on the IBM Mainframe using Z/OS.

• Experience with database (DB2, IDMS); Editing software (Roscoe, TSO); EasyTrieve Plus or other report writer software.

• Experience with SQL and MS Visual Studio desirable.

• Experience and strong knowledge of SAS is desirable

• Experience with Snowflake is desirable

• Experience with Matillion is desirable

• Experience with JIRA or any other issue tracking software.

• Experience with Gitlab or any other version controll software

• Functional Knowledge in any of the following: Retail, Inventory, US Customs, Finance or Logistics

• Proven ability to work with user community, peers and stakeholders in requirements gathering, implementation and identification of opportunities/efficiencies, etc. while improving business processes and outcomes.

• Ability to estimate effort and deliver to agreed timelines.

• Problem-solving and proactive anticipation of errors/data gaps, failure points in the processing or manipulation of data.

• Solid track record of successful testing (both positive and negative views) and successful implementations.

• Solid understanding of ETL and data transformation routines to optimize processes.

• Knowledge of Microsoft O365 suite of products and tools.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Teams is desired.
