Lead Engineer - Safety Process

Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.

We are seeking a highly experience and qualified Process Safety Engineering Manager to join our team in Houston, TX with extensive travel to site.  This role reports to the VP Operations Engineering and will be responsible for ensuring that operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and effectively.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Provide technical and engineering leadership on all process safety management elements such as MOC, PSSR, PHA, process design.
• Provide process safety and engineering leadership to communicate and evaluate process safety risks.
• Day to day ownership of Process Safety Barrier Health reporting.
• Responsible for leadership on PHA teams (HAZOP, LOPA, What If, HAZID, etc.)
• Responsible for leadership in process safety incident investigations, especially high potential events.
• Develop and deliver training programs, and keep them updated in accordance with changes in technology and industry best practices
• Responsible for monitoring, internal auditing, reporting and confirmation of closeout of associated action items; on those activities that directly contribute to the overall operational risk. These activities include:
• CSO/CSC register
• Red Spade – procedure and register
• Procedures – initial start-up and SOP and red line revisions
• Process Upset Reporting
  • Incident investigation or root cause analysis (RCA)
• Permit to Work
• SIMOPs
• Inhibits / Bypasses & Register
• Pre-startup Safety Reviews
• Monitoring process safety metrics and analyzing data to identify trends and outliers and to make recommendations as needed.

• Participate in Pre-Start-Up / Readiness Reviews for major equipment commissioning activities and support Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR).
• Participate in Go-no-Go reviews.
• Primary interfaces include contractor CSU team, engineering, and operations departments.

Basic Qualifications:

• • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Process Engineering or other Engineering Discipline
  • 10 years of experience in HSSE management including emergency response functions, and investigation. LNG facility experience preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of LNG experience or oil and gas
  • Experience in design, implementation and management of safety systems and procedures
  • Oversee safety audits and inspections.
  • Monitoring safety metrics and analyzing data
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices
  • Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.
