As a Lead Engineer, Solutions Engineer, you will drive improvements to labor planning tools and processes through rigorous data collection and analysis, crafting marketable solutions for our operations team and identifying, proposing, and delivering key initiatives that improve XPO's Less-than-truckload operations (LTL). What you'll do on a typical day:

• Work directly with operational and HR leaders to implement engineered staffing, dock, P&D, linehaul and network plans to improve operational performance.
• Collaborate across functions to design, develop, and pilot tools and programs aimed at labor planning optimization. This could include staffing, overall dock and P&D performance and efficiency, reducing cost/CWT, and improving on-time service, quality, load average and overall safety.
• Perform research and create data models to identify and scope opportunities.
• Measure, analyze and report on data to identify opportunities and to evaluate effectiveness of initiatives and strategic projects.
• Partner with PMO, Learning and Development (L&D), Communications, Engineering and Operations teams to develop training materials, create plans and schedules, and implement process improvements. Serve as an active trainer and change agent in support of labor management initiatives.
• Function as a subject matter expert for Engineering, HR and Operations.

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
• 4 years of experience in key functional areas: supply chain management, logistics, decision support systems/technology, transportation management, distribution or procurement functional responsibilities

It'd be great if you also have:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a supply chain/logistics related area
• Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
• Experience in service center operations or LTL freight experience.
• Strong project management and analytical skills with a track record of proactively identifying potential issues and formulating solutions and contingency plans.
• Self-motivated work style; able to set priorities and work independently.
• Results-driven focus with the ability to analyze, prioritize and act in accordance with ethics and values to achieve desired results.
