As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer, you will perform various roles including, but not limited to, research and design to advance highly reliable and secure virtual infrastructure architectures, primarily in centralized enterprise datacenters. You will be a catalyst to accelerate our DevOps culture as you define and lead the install, configuration and hardening of enterprise hypervisors as well as their underlying physical server infrastructure. You'll act as a Subject Matter Expert in troubleshooting systems' availability and performance issues.

What you'll do on a typical day:

• Design, code and document standardized and secure automations managing the life cycle of virtual machines for routine execution by operational staff
• Identify opportunities to advance our service offerings, improve SLAs, reduce service delivery costs
• Troubleshoot and assist in triaging performance issues in a highly virtualized infrastructure
• Represent the team in the evaluation of new technology solutions
• Maintain relationships with third party IT vendors and/or software/hardware suppliers
• Produce regular reports to assist in cost recovery, capacity planning and consolidation
• Perform hardware monitoring and maintenance including upgrades
• Perform software monitoring and maintenance including upgrades
• Perform mentoring and training for other engineers

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
• 6 years of experience in IT, preferably in mid to large enterprise environments with VMware experience
• Expertise in one or more scripting languages/automation tools: Python, BASH, Ansible/AWX, PowerShell, YAML, Jenkins, GitHub, Terraform, Zerto Virtual Replication for vSphere

It'd be great if you also have:

• 7 years IT experience, preferably in enterprise IT Infrastructure
• VMware certifications
• Experience in multi-site environment
• Experience in managing and delivering on multiple projects with competing time and resource requirements
• Advanced knowledge of several of the following systems, technologies and concepts: vSphere, vRealize, VMware NSX-T, VMware Tanzu, Citrix Hypervisor / XenServer, Kubernetes
• Administration of public cloud infrastructure in an enterprise context - GCP, Azure, AWS
• SAN Storage Technologies - FC Fabric, block-level data replication, use of snapshots, file protocols (NFS/SMB), Disaster Recovery processes and procedures,
• Networking experience - load balancing, VLAN tagging, port channels, firewalls, routing
• Systems support for MS-SQL and Oracle databases in virtual systems
• Experience operating within IT Service Management (ITSM) and / or ITIL processes
