Lead Engineering Technician, Powertrain
Job Description
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

What You’ll Do
- Build and mentor a team of Battery (Cells, Modules, Packs), Motor, Inverter, and Electric Propulsion Unit engineering technicians
- Own and maintain all Powertrain build & test lab spaces at Archer Engineering HQ
- Ensure technicians meet engineering build and test objectives per program schedule
- Drive high standards in Safety, Quality, Innovation, and Collaboration
- Lead a team of technicians in conducting component level tests in accordance with test procedures
- Partner with Design and Manufacturing Engineers to identify manpower, equipment, test, and facility needs for all Powertrain programs
- Capture and track engineering build issues and identify root cause
- Define and track technician team KPI’s
What You Need
- Strong understanding of physics and engineering fundamentals
- 3+ years’ experience in assembly and test of electro-mechanical components
- Previous experience leading/mentoring indirect reporting crews of 5 or more
- Experience in Powertrain (Battery & Propulsion) manufacturing process development and equipment bring-up
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Bonus Qualifications
- Associates or higher degree
- Experience in battery abuse testing
- Knowledge of FAA aircraft certification requirements for Part 23 aircraft
- Experience with DO-160G, DO-311A aerospace standards
- Experience with UN38.3, IEC, ISO, and UL electrification standards
