Lead Experience Designer - Airbnb for Real Estate

The community you will join

The Airbnb for Real Estate Team focuses on building products and services for the world of multifamily buildings. We help people find buildings where they can live and also host their place to generate income.  We design tools for building owners and operators to help them enable Airbnb stays. We are a small but agile team within the Airbnb community.

We are looking for a Lead Experience Designer to join our team. You will work within our product organization with product management and engineering colleagues. You’ll work alongside other Experience Designers and report to our team’s head of design.

The difference you will make

As an Experience Designer you will lead design across different areas of our product suite. Working closely with cross-functional partners you will help envision new tools services and product features. Your work will focus on building managers who depend on our products to manage and monitor Airbnb activity in their properties. You will also focus on customers who use our marketplace to find a new place to live. As part of our team your goal will be to make it easy to host in apartment buildings.

A typical day

• Lead multiple UX design initiatives independently across our different product surface areas

• Capable of leading and delivering innovative designs across complex and diverse initiatives. Skilled storyteller strong cross-functional partner fluent in multiple design disciplines and specialized in one or more design disciplines

• Carry projects through from beginning to end - research and strategy to conceptualization to detailed design to supporting development.

• Work on initiatives that may go beyond the screen - such as printed materials living space design etc.

• Lead design research initiatives to understand user needs identify opportunities evaluate concepts and test usability

• Utilize Airbnb’s design language system to quickly build design concepts

• Leverage prototyping skills to explore and share design

• Work directly with senior executives at large real estate companies to gather feedback and input for product evolution

• Comfortably present your work to senior leadership on our team and more broadly within Airbnb

• Develop a deep understanding of our business and business metrics - use these considerations in your design thinking and help us grow our business; understands the product beyond the user interface

• Maintain a working understanding of web mobile and AI technologies

• Work closely with product management data science marketing and sales to define business opportunities and product strategy

• Work closely with engineering to determine feasibility and ensure design fidelity

• Study the UX industry and regularly analyze UX patterns and themes in other products to help inspire design

• Accountable for a redesign or creation of a complete feature

• Elevates others' work through education consultation and thought leadership

Your expertise

• 7+ years of experience as a UX or product designer

• Demonstrated experience designing digital/software products from concept to market launch

• Experience designing for both consumer facing and enterprise products

• Experience launching MVP solutions quickly evaluating user data and iterating through design improvements

• Comfortable working in a collaborative cross-functional team environment

• Organized process driven with a reliable and consistent approach plus the ability to set clear expectations with stakeholders

• Excellent time management skills communication skills and attention to detail

• Expert skill in design software (Figma preferred)

• Experience with product/project management software (Asana preferred)

• Knowledge of software development and web technologies

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites as agreed to with your manager.
