How you'll make a difference?
The Lead Analyst will be an integral part of the finance and the Global Spine Business Unit and will report to the Sr. Director of FP&A. The Lead Analyst will assist with the preparation of internal/external financial reports, Executive Leadership Team (ELT) reporting, monthly financial analysis materials, and provide ad hoc analysis for the organization. This position works closely with senior business management (Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Research & Development) to develop reporting, commission plans, forecasts, budgets, and other financial tools. This position uses modeling tools to assess business opportunities, analyze historical results, develop strategic plans and initiatives and identify notable trends. Be a valued and trusted business partner within the finance team and across the breadth of the full business organization. The position will partner closely with the BU leaders by providing timely and accurate data and analysis to help make fact-based decisions to help further growth the business. This position will serve as the key finance contact for the team, which will require some level of accounting proficiency, including knowledge of consolidations. The Lead Analyst may be tasked with contributing to decisions involving significant monetary expenditures and revenue-generating opportunities. Specific activities include but are not limited to the following:

What will your duties and responsibilities be?

The following are the essential functions of this position. This position may be responsible for performing additional duties and tasks as needed and assigned.

  • Prepare analysis, reports, and presentations using software including Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Power BI, Excel, Oracle, and PowerPoint

  • Prepare Monthly Financial Reports, Analysis & Reporting Packages in support of the Global Spine BU

  • Understand the business and related markets help link the BU strategy to financial results

  • Monitor and analyze expenditures vs. plan and prepare forecasts / schedules

  • Work in concert with business management and finance to develop sales, expense, and income forecasts / budgets

  • Prepare ad hoc reporting based on senior business management’s requests

  • Interpret information and present findings and recommendations to management

  • Close involvement in the monthly accounting closing processes to understand business financial results and perform budget analysis

  • Understand and apply advanced financial tools such as Excel statistical analysis and discounted cash flow

  • Exhibit professional and collaborative approach with both internal and external business customers

What skills and experience will you need?

The requirements listed below are representative of the education, knowledge, skill and/or ability required for this position.

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical area such as accounting or finance.

Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities:

  • 5+ years in financial planning and analysis and/or budgeting.

  • Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills using advanced Microsoft Excel functions.

  • Experience developing internal monthly KPI, financial, and dashboard reporting packages.

  • Facilitates communication between team members to ensure efforts are aligned.

  • Makes confident, fact-based decisions.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrate a high level of competitiveness and desire to succeed.

  • Experience in developing and understanding complex business decision models using DCF, ROI, IRR, sensitivity analysis, statistical analysis, etc.

  • ERP system experience, preferably with Oracle.

  • Ability to manage workload in support of strategic priorities.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Strong computer skills to communicate through and present materials to others with computer based applications (email, PowerPoint, Excel, SAS, SQL, Cognos, etc.)

  • Operates with a high degree of integrity.

  • Travel required from 5-10%, therefore must be able to utilize airplane, taxi and car.

What qualifications are preferred?
The education, knowledge, skills and/or abilities listed below are preferred qualifications in addition to the minimum qualifications stated above.

Additional Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities:

  • CPA, CFA, and/or MBA preferred

  • Experience automating processes using macros, VBA, SQL, etc.

    The anticipated salary for this position for an employee who is located in California is $115,706 to $148,276 per year, plus bonus, based on performance,, and benefits. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc. The Company is a multi-state employer and this pay scale may not reflect the pay scale for an employee who works in other states or locations.
