Lead Financial Analyst

Our Finance Department is seeking a Lead Financial Analyst to join our dynamic team in our Worcester, MA office location. This is a hybrid, full time, exempt role.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position will play an integral role in the financial planning and special projects responsibilities of the Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis team, reporting directly to the team's Vice President of Finance.
Key competencies include playing a key role in financial analysis for Finance leadership and other internal customers, with a focus on planning and forecasting and near-term project-oriented work.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Play critical role in coordination of medium-term (3-5 year) forecast and iterative annual operating plan
- Establish relationships with multiple functions to ensure integrity of financial projections. In doing so, provide top-notch customer service to all key stakeholders
- Run point on creation of multiple planning-related presentations for Hanover's CFO and Board of Directors throughout the year. This will include coordination with Investor Relations team on external guidance messaging
- Coordinate with manager in building out calendars for all key planning and forecast deliverables. Provide necessary level of transparency to constituents to avoid last minute tension
- Assist in various projects as they arise, likely to include Competitive Intelligence and Corporate working groups
- Establish databases of pertinent information for use in analyzing future plans and forecast
- Build operating cash flow model, with robust claim payment logic
- Identify enhancement opportunities to existing files and workflows
- Assume reviewer role of ensuring plan inputs at the detailed level are loaded into Hyperion Planning application correctly and output is intuitive
- Over time, become involved in monthly bookclose and reporting deliverables, with a focus on providing insightful plan variance analysis
- Innate willingness to learn about the P&C insurance industry and The Hanover
- Diligent self-review of work; ability to anticipate questions from senior leaders
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
- At least 5 years of related planning and analytical experience
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Financial modeling experience required
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated Business and Financial acumen
- Stellar written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to collaborate and partner with stakeholders in multiple functions
- Takes pride and accountability for work product; conducts detailed self-review
- Advanced knowledge Microsoft Office products, primarily Excel
- Intellectually curious
- Knowledge of, or aptitude to learn, Power BI, SQL querying, and VBA coding
