MITRE's Finance organization is seeking a Lead Financial Analyst, Group Leader to support the MITRE National Security Program Finance Team, which provides financial support to MITRE National Security and its Department Managers, and Project Leaders. As a Lead Financial Analyst, you will serve as a trusted analyst in support of the MITRE Sector Financial Management organization. In this role, you will serve as the primary source of day-to-day financial management and business decision support to Department Managers, and Project Leaders - playing a key part in the business operations functions that maximize MITRE's value to our government sponsors. In addition, this role will serve as a Group Leader and be responsible for day-to-day management and career development of a staff of five.

This position is accountable to:

  • The Program Finance Manager of MITRE National Security Program Finance to effectively implement and manage established goals
  • Line business leadership to provide accurate, timely, and strategic business decision support - quality analyses including, insights, options, and recommendations
  • Other Corporate/Shared Service teams (i.e. Contracts, Accounting, FP&A) to ensure cross organization collaboration and integrated business operations execution

This role will be located in our Bedford or McLean office and will be a hybrid work schedule.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide continuous proactive service & support to Project Leaders and Department Managers Full-lifecycle financial, and end-to-end business support of direct work programs (e.g. Budgeting, resource management, execution, collections, and contract closeout)
  • Develop and maintain vertical and horizontal relationships within Program Finance to bolster solid support system for PLs and DMs in to order to maintain service levels and adequate support needs
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, guidance, and career development to staff ensuring timely and quality delivery of services across individual staff members
  • Ensure accurate processing and documentation of financial reporting/transactions to ensure established levels of quality and efficiency KPIs
  • Utilize and apply best practices regarding tools, technology, and standard financial processes
  • Drive operational improvements in the day-to-day execution of the Program finance function
  • Execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing and reporting of internal and external financial information
  • Prepare and deliver necessary supporting analytics to assist leadership in decision making Ensure strong operating financial controls and adherence to FAR, CAS, and MITRE finance policies
  • Support leadership on financial performance management and ad-hoc projects
  • Interface with internal sector business customers to identify critical needs and provide accurate and timely information
  • Collaborate with Treasury to maintain timely accounts receivable and sustain positive cashflow
  • Support Business Transformation & Process Reengineering Efforts

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of finance and/or accounting experience, preferably within the US Government (Federal) practice of a professional services firm
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, i.e., Pivot tables & Core functions
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and influencing skills
  • Experience with Data Visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Passion for mentoring and coaching teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint and/or Cognos Analytics preferred
  • Experience with FAR and CAS preferred
  • Experience managing, mentoring and developing teams preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail resourceful self-starter who executes on commitments
  • Mindset of continuous improvement with the capacity to drive change
