Job Summary

This Lead Financial Strategy Analyst participates in forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and ad hoc duties in support of the Bread Financial Information Technology (IT) team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for finance and technology as they will serve as a liaison between the organizations and will be expected to understand the strategic business needs and long-range plans and translate that to financial benefits and implications to inform financial reporting. The Lead Analyst may also be responsible for training, developing, and providing leadership to other analysts. The candidate is expected to demonstrate a disciplined, data-driven approach with strong attention to detail and quality of information.

This Lead Financial Strategy Analyst role falls within the Finance organization as a part of the Enterprise Cost Management (ECOM) team. The ECOM team is responsible for working with business partners across Bread Financial to help educate and drive profitable decision making. The team encompasses and supports expense management, strategic decision making, and analysis & reporting.

Job Description

This role will require the Lead to reside in the Central Ohio area.

Review and evaluate - Analyzes and reviews departmental P&L's and monthly forecast vs. budget variances. Maintains active and up to date oversight of existing risks and opportunities to the budget. Works with other analysts within the team to distill granular detail into overarching high-level storylines. Partners with IT team to develop and maintain a robust application and vendor management framework including; detailed understanding of key services provided, contract renewal cadence, and cost structure. Utilizes knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams to execute daily work.

Create and design - Assists in identifying objectives and success metrics and proactively raises concerns, and makes recommendations to enhance and improve processes. Works to understand financial implications and opportunities as the organization modernizes their technology, (example: waterfall to agile transition and migration to the cloud.) Able to maintain organization in order to multitask and prioritize projects while adhering to deadlines. Works as a self-starter with the motivation to always continue to enhance and build on the collaborative and cooperative relationship between the Finance and IT teams.

Reporting - Independently creates, maintains, and publishes standard and ad hoc reporting to analyze financial performance based on IT team needs by leveraging sources such as Essbase, and business intelligence tools. Partners with Technology Business Office to understand goals and metrics for measuring and managing performance, and assists in building dashboard and scorecard reporting to present to varying audiences. Expected to be an active participant in presenting findings and work to various levels of IT and Finance leadership. Demonstrates strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to interact with and influence business decisions with management.

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements: Normal office environment. Work from home options available.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent business experience in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Analytics, or similar
  • Four or more years in Financial Services field, using software such as advanced functions in Excel, SQL, Power BI, MicroStrategy, etc. to complete advanced analysis and reporting.

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or similar field of study
  • Five or more years in Financial Services field, ideally private label and/or bankcard credit
  • FinOps Certified Professional
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certified
  • Information Technology focused knowledge (cloud migration framework cost monitoring, Agile/Lean methodologies, IT application and vendor cost management)

Typical Starting Range:

$95,900.00 - $173,900.00

Full Salary Range for position:

California:$110,400.00 - $217,400.00

Colorado:$95,900.00 - $182,600.00

New York:$105,500.00 - $217,400.00

Washington:$100,700.00 - $200,100.00

The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.

Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial's 401(k) plan.

All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safety Time per calendar year at the beginning of each year and is prorated in the associate's first year of employment.

Hired associates will be able to elect to purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
