The Role

AXS is seeking a Lead Front-End Software Engineer to lead the development efforts of a software engineering team assigned to one or more AXS products and technologies. This role is also responsible for providing technical mentoring and guidance to the rest of the engineering team.


Where: You'll be based at our head office opposite London Bridge station. We offer flexible start and end times and also welcome flexible working conversations.

You will have a real interest and passion for software development and you’ll thrive in working with a variety of tools, languages, systems and architectures while building features and services for our core ticketing systems. You will be incredibly organised with a meticulous eye for detail and you will be used to working at pace and under pressure. You’ll easily spot and define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw relevant conclusions. You will always put the experience of the fan at the heart of everything you and thrive working as part of a passionate, busy team who love what they do.


Main Activities and Responsibilities

  • To be a hands-on development team lead, leading a team of highly skilled developers to deliver complex greenfield and BAU projects across a variety of AXS products and technologies.
  • Provide technical and design guidance on a day-to-day basis to the development team.
  • Write up RFCs to present technical approaches prior to implementation of complex features, to AXS's technology community.
  • Work closely with project managers, business analysts and other business stake holders to produce accurate delivery estimates and help manage any delivery risks or issues.
  • Prepare for and support weekly production releases and have a thorough understanding of AXS's CMG and ICM processes in order to be able to do so.
  • Be readily available to troubleshoot and fix critical production issues when paged during ICMs.
  • Mentor junior developers, provide guidance on technical training and career paths.
  • Perform code reviews, scan code for security vulnerabilities, best practices, code issues, and test code.
  • Work to resolve support requests, process special client requests that are urgent, discuss with other Engineering or Product Staff


Key Skills and Experience

  • Significant relevant hands-on coding experience
  • Knowledge of .NET/NodeJS, JavaScript, ReactJS, Redux, CSS, HTML, MS SQL Server, Oracle and AWS
  • A good understanding of database design, programming languages, and technical integrations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to influence change
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
  • 2 years SAAS experience
  • Experience leading, developing, and mentoring staff.

Pay Scale: ÂŁ80,000-ÂŁ90,000
