Lead Game Designer

ABOUT THE ROLE 

Peloton is actively searching for a creative and forward-thinking Lead Game Designer to spearhead the development of our gamified fitness experiences.

As the Lead Game Designer, you will leverage your innovation, analytical acumen, and extensive understanding of exceptional player experiences to craft captivating and immersive fitness experiences that will keep our members coming back for more.

YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON

• Playing a pivotal role in shaping the creative strategy and vision for seamlessly merging gameplay with fitness workouts to create captivating content offerings.
• Working closely with Product, Art, UX/UI, and Engineering teams to ensure the successful execution of the agreed-upon creative vision.
• Develop and document high level designs for systems, gameplay loops, and moment-to-moment gameplay 
• Collaborate with the team to create prototypes and demos to validate design ideas and iterate on mechanics. Conduct playtests and gather feedback to refine and improve the gameplay experience.
• Providing guidance and direction on UX/UI and Art to ensure they effectively enhance the player experience.
• Collaborating with fitness subject matter experts to ensure that our designs are grounded in effective and safe training methods.
• Describing gameplay systems in intricate detail to guarantee an engaging and compelling experience for players.
• Communicating ideas, concepts, and design specifications in clear and helpful formats, actively seeking feedback, and collaborating with an agile development team to bring these designs to life.

YOU BRING TO PELOTON 

• Proven track record of designing successful games across various platforms.
• Enthusiastic and curious about innovative possibilities in the fitness gaming space.
• Expertise in game design principles and mechanics.
• Understanding of the significance of UX and ability to prioritize simplifying complexity into elegant and intuitive solutions.
• Collaborative approach with a humble mindset, eager to partner with discipline leads on game ideation.
• Appreciation for the value of constructive feedback and actively seeking it out, as well as providing it to others.
• Proactive and action-oriented, demonstrating a strong bias for taking initiative.
• Experience iterating on live games based on player feedback and analytics.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly in working closely with experts from different fields, understanding their requirements, and translating them into software.
• Experience working in an agile team and building games iteratively.
• Familiarity with game development tools, engines, and scripting languages. Understanding of technical constraints and considerations when designing gameplay systems.
• Ability to serve as an impactful coach and mentor to other designers.
• Bonus: Experience prototyping in Unity.

Base Salary: $208,000 to $270,000

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position based at our New York City headquarters. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including individual performance, business objectives, and if the location for the job changes.
