Lead Infrastructure Engineer you will combine software and systems to help us build a world-class engineering function, in which you will work within the team in designing, evaluating, selecting, implementing, integrating, maintaining, upgrading, documenting, and supporting our environments. As a member of our Production Support team you'll immediately put your love of technology into action to find new and creative solutions in troubleshooting and resolving issues, and making sure our application platforms and servers are online and secure. Job summary
The Identity & Access Management (IAM) Production Support team is seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer that combines both software and infrastructure (On-Prem & Cloud) to operate and manage large-scale, distributed and fault tolerant systems. The candidate will support, build and implement creative solutions for operational problems, including optimizing existing applications, building out infrastructure, capacity and resilience management, telemetry solutions, and eliminating redundant work through automation. The candidate will work with various cross-functional teams, and must be able to work in a global team setting and adapt to dynamic requirements. Communication is key in the day-to-day function and in problem solving, in collaborating with your coworkers, your supervisors and other stakeholders.
This position is anticipated to require the use of one or more High Security Access (HSA) systems. Users of these systems are subject to enhanced screening which includes both criminal and credit background checks, and/or other enhanced screening at the time of accepting the position and on an annual basis thereafter. The enhanced screening will need to be successfully completed prior to commencing employment or assignment.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day Operational Application support for the suite of IAM applications; with focus on health, uptime, monitoring, reliability of services & infrastructure, and change coordination & implementation.
- Lead and manage incident triage in collaboration with other team members and other cross-functional teams, in identifying and analyzing problems, conduct post-mortems, develop permanent remediation plans, implement automation to prevent future incidents from re-occurring again.
- Continually improve and mature telemetry framework and capabilities to accomplish end-to-end flow monitoring, and ensure user visible uptime and quality; providing operational and development expertise in making our systems to have proactive monitoring, fail rarely and self-healing capabilities.
- Engage to run, maintain and improve critical services against established Service Level Objectives (SLO's) by applying software engineering principles, with capacity management and continuous performance improvements.
- Minimize manual involvement for the team by driving solutions in automation and implementing continuous improvements that creates a more stable operating environment, including development & configuration for dynamic monitoring, alerting & recovery.
- Build strong and productive relationships with the development & product teams, and engage with other stakeholders, with the purpose of continued platform improvements and in delivery of initiatives.
- Lead and contribute to the Public Cloud Journey with best practices in collaboration with Application Development teams.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities
- BS/BA degree or equivalent experience in a Computer Science and/or Software engineering disciplines.
- Strong platform skills (Linux, UNIX, Windows, and AWS), working knowledge of infrastructure components such as routers, load balancers, cloud products, container systems, compute, storage and networks; with Strong application & middleware support knowledge.
- Knowledge and experience in AWS Cloud services related to compute, storage, networking, messaging, automation (Cloudformation, Terraform, etc.) and data.
- Experience in handling critical application outages in an large scale operations, and utilizing debugging and troubleshooting skills in driving root cause analysis and remediation, as well as proven ability to understand and troubleshoot complex problems under pressure.
- Experience with instrumentation, monitoring, alerting and responding - relative to performance and availability of application, using tools such as AppDynamics, Splunk, Datadog, Cloudwatch and etc..
- Experience with Enterprise Databases (e.g. Oracle, Cockroach, mySQL).
- Experience with Scripting languages (e.g. Bash, PowerShell), Automation and Configuration tools like Ansible, Puppet and Chef; and Deployments tools like Jenkins, GIT and CI/CD pipelines.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities
- Experience with full software development life cycle and Agile disciplines. (Sprints, Stand-ups, Scrum, Kanban).
- Understanding of concepts and principles behind DevOps, SRE, CICD etc.
- Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages (e.g. Python, Java).
- Certifications in related technologies required for the role.
