The Role

We are looking for an Windows Desktop and Citrix subject matter expert who will be working with our desktop engineering support team to provide level 3 operational and Site Reliability Engineering support for various Windows desktop, Citrix/VDI environment and platforms. Core responsibilities will be focused on troubleshooting escalations, SRE, automation, training and assisting with deployments. Tasks would include Desktop troubleshooting, escalation support globally, vendor escalation management, scripting to automate desktop tasks, executing provisioning scripts to automate creating VDI workloads and assigning users, creating de-provisioning processes and management of Citrix infrastructure and NetScaler appliances.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and script various tasks / routines that will be used for automation & orchestration in our desktop and VDI environment
  • Work with key stakeholders on requirements gathering to ensure tools meet both business and IT requirements.
  • Work with other team members to take scripts and tools that may have been completed regionally and productionize them
  • Work with the team globally to support all related platforms and infrastructure
Qualifications

Required:
  • Manage and support VMware and Hyper-V based virtual desktop infrastructure
  • Manage and support Citrix broker services managing connections to virtual desktops and virtual applications
  • Provide high level support for Windows 10 OS issue escalations.
  • Provide high level support for various application issue escalations.
  • Provide support to virtualization engineering team.
  • Provide support to Citrix engineering team.
  • Provide input and support to the desktop engineering team on all aspects of the desktop environment.
  • Strong Windows PowerShell scripting knowledge. 5+ years preferred.
  • Strong Windows Desktop OS and WMI understanding. 7+ years preferred.
  • General understanding of virtualization technologies
  • General understanding of networks and VLANs
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop concepts.
  • SCCM collection, sequencing, and application deployment experience. Application packaging understanding.
  • Microsoft Hyper-V experience
  • Experience supporting and managing virtual machines via VMware vSphere.
  • Experience supporting and managing virtual machines via MS Hyper-V.
  • Experience supporting and managing Citrix technologies such as Citrix Workspace and Citrix VDA.
  • Experience creating and modifying PowerShell scripts to query and manage Hyper-V, VMware and Citrix.
  • Basic network troubleshooting experience.
  • Very strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and support new technologies.
  • Ability to multitask when dealing with high priority issues.
