The reason behind the role…
Reporting to the VP of Engineering, we are seeking a Lead Mobile Developer who wants to make an impact on our customers immediately. We are building a new mobile experience for our customers out in the field and we want to deliver the first version within a few months. This person will set the technical foundation and work directly with product and design to tune scope to be achievable. We will consider bringing on additional engineers for this project and the Lead Mobile Developer will play a key role in determining the need and skills required to deliver an experience that wows our customers.
The Lead Mobile Developer will lay the technical foundation for a maintainable mobile development environment and drive focused efforts with product and design to release a beta within 3-5 months and a general release version of the new experience in late 2024.
You are the engineering leader of a mobile experience that will:Â
- Own the mobile tech stack and architecture for iOS and Android devices while leveraging our React/Ruby on Rails web platform
- Evaluate the ROI in bringing on additional engineers to meet our delivery goals
- Write code, including tests, and be highly productive as an individual contributor and accelerate the development of the new experience
- Provide code reviews and feedback to the mobile team (if needed) to influence and set standards for high quality code, testing and patterns
- Respond to and take an active role in production events and triage and prioritize based on customer impact vs in-flight work
- Fully participate and lead conversations during agile rituals drawing from your experience and curiosity to find best practices with the team
- Be a part of a growing engineering team to learn and teach as we build a challenging and exciting engineering practice and product
Does this sound like you?
Specific experience is less important than a demonstrable desire to learn and the ability to complete complex projects. However, a good candidate should have the following:
- Demonstrated experience in launching new mobile applications that aim to use the mobile platform to enhance workflows when in the field
- Versed and comfortable collaborating with product and design and providing the mobile trade-offs when making scoping decisionsÂ
- 3+ years in mobile team leadership experience in a fast paced environment where the objective is to learn through iteration
- Opinionated in native mobile patterns, languages, technologies, architecture, monitoring and observability
- Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence product and engineering direction
- Have evaluated and are opinionated on mobile vendors and have interviewed for the skills to augment the team
- 5+ years of experience in mobile application development
- Database and ORM experience with ActiveRecord and MySQL or similar relational database
- Experience working in a environment where unit testing, integration testing and automated testing is important
- A collaborator who is comfortable pairing with other engineers to unblock and solve problems
- Ability to work autonomously to tackle large projects without close monitoring
- Excited to explore and pick up new technologies and programming languages
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
- US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required (we do not sponsor at this time)

​​The salary range for this role is $160,000 to $180,000 USD and final offers are determined using multiple factors including experience and level of expertise. For all other locations, the salary range may vary by geographic market and will be determined through the selection and assessment process for this role relative to your experience and our job qualifications. SingleOps complies with applicable law regarding pay transparency.Â
