About The Position
- Maintains responsibility for all aspects of digital equipment, applications and/or systems administration, including implementation, configuration, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, usage monitoring and the development of systems infrastructure within Digital Infrastructure
- Performs installations, upgrades, and may perform backups of software and hardware applications
- Designs, writes, implements and performs backup and restore procedures, and monitors processes
- Administers and maintains system stability
- Troubleshoots software and hardware failures and identifies net problems when they relate to digital equipment
Key responsibilities include:
- Audits systems and assesses their outcomes
- Designs, develops, implements and coordinates systems, policies and procedures
- Provides strategic recommendations to improve ongoing operations and maintenance of Ameren's systems (OS, platforms, and devices)
- Provides visionary and strategic direction for Digital disaster recovery including (but not limited to) site failover, application level failover, data center strategy and cloud initiatives
- Provides guidance to the team conducting audits and investigations of high failure rates, reviewing documentation and tools used to recognize trends around failure rates
- Works with stakeholders to assess our current Digital capabilities, define desired future-state, perform a gap analysis and create a roadmap for Ameren to ensure the infrastructure roadmap aligns with business direction; communicates same to key stakeholders inside and outside of Digital
- Provides implementation path for a group of systems to provide a solution; sets service level expectations
- Conceptualizes, defines, and oversees the development, configuration and implementation of new technologies and platforms supporting the transformation of the business
- Coaches co-workers and provides feedback to enhance skills and knowledge
- Supports training and recruiting (college and experienced hires) for co-workers
- Mentors co-workers
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in computer science or related field
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- Consideration will be given to candidates with eleven or more years of relevant experience in lieu of the degree requirement.
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Expert knowledge of at least one platform (e.g., infrastructure, operating systems, telecommunications networks, specialized systems administration) and working knowledge of others
- Expert knowledge of the definition, design, and implementation of infrastructure and solutions
- Working knowledge of database management or administration and source control
- Expert knowledge of current system administration tools and scripting languages
- Expert knowledge of Ameren software applications to diagnose and repair problems
