About the Opportunity

As the Lead Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately recording hours of work, processing time records, compiling payroll statistics, maintaining payroll control records, and calculating payrolls. You will also administer applications for payroll end users, including training. You will be the primary point of contact with payroll system vendor UKG. In this role, you will manage all interfaces and tables in UKG Pro, Ultimate Time, and Attendance and, Workday and carrier connections. You will perform a variety of functions related to payroll accounting and solve discrepancies. You will prepare feasibility studies of potential systems modifications and changes. You may also act as the liaison between payroll and systems to ensure documentation of system functions and capabilities and to facilitate the training of payroll staff in the use of the automated system.

Responsibilities

• Lead the processing of payroll for specific pay groups at Driscoll's U.S. locations using UKG Products, time and attendance processing, interface with UKG Pro and imports.• Technical expert for application and system support for internal clients for all payroll related systems and hardware.• Be the primary contact for assigned client payrolls, ensuring the highest level of client satisfaction. Providing resources, support and training for employee concerns and questions regarding pay.• Administer time and labor management software (UKG). Understanding setup features, work rules, pay rules, filters, hyper, queries and end user requirements.• Perform internal audits that ensure accurate benefit deductions that include Health Benefits, 401K Plan, and record keeping. Lead and coordinate all payroll audits from outside vendors including Workers Comp, Social Compliance, and Union.• Accounting support for department managers with budget, forecasting discrepancies and provide resolutions.• Coordinate and perform various weekly payroll duties, including reviewing Workday integrations, email requests, exporting and filing payroll registers, journal entries, and check requests.• Manage 2nd level application and system support for internal clients, provide training for new users, and administrate interfaces for Workday, UKG Pro, UKG Time and Attendance.• Responsible for maintaining and updating technical documentation for payroll software systems customized for payroll department's needs. Including projects involving payroll systems and providing subject matter expertise to junior members. • System Administrator of our device management software that controls our 120+ time clocks for hourly employees across the US. • Provide monthly reports to various departments, vendors, and state agencies. Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary.

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications• Strong communication, presentation, and customer service skills• Ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines in a team environment• Bilingual English/Spanish is required• Extensive knowledge of payroll processing and time and attendance systems• Proficient using Microsoft Excel• Subject matter expert of payroll practices, piece rate compensation, labor law, taxation of employer paid benefits• Fundamentals of Payroll Certification (FPC) designation required• Technical experience using UKG Products (UKG, UTA) or other automated payroll system; time clocks and report writing tools such in Business Intelligence reporting• Must possess organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality• Auditing all payrolls for 100% accuracy

• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job, manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, and be able to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely

Preferred Qualifications• Associates degree or higher in accounting preferred• Must be able to maintain a valid CA Driver's License with the ability to be insured under company-sponsored liability coverage• Ability to be flexible and dependable with work schedule, including on-call shifts (nights and weekends), holidays, and overtime

Compensation & Benefits:

The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related factors.

The hourly range estimated for this role is between $24.76 to $35.00 USD.
