This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB and MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is with the Directorate of Emergency Services located at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must pass initial and annual medical examinations.
- Must pass initial and semi-annual weapons qualifications.
- This is a Mission Essential Position.
- Designated drug-testing position – Must pass initial drug test and subject to random drug testing.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Must possess a valid, State-issued motor vehicle license.
- Must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
- Must pass initial and annual physical ability/agility test.
- Must meet annual training and re-certification requirements.
- Must complete initial and annual CPR and First Aid requirements.
- Must be able to work shifts, overtime and weekends, as required.
- Must wear the prescribed uniform and maintain a high standard of appearance and hygiene.
- Must be able to wear chemical-protection requirement, as required.
- Must qualify and remain qualified for the Individual Reliability Program.
- Graduated from the US Army Civilian Police Academy or graduate within 12 months of hire or current employee and considered grandfathered IAW AR 190-56 or have a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG).
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Working with a workforce that ensures security and safety; 2) Planning and prioritizing work assignments; and 3) Performing day to day police and law enforcement operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
