The Position

The Lead Product Designer is a generalist who collaborates with product, business and engineering teams to design and deliver top tier user experiences at every level of our software products. From inception to release, the lead designer promotes best practices while providing hands-on contributions throughout the discovery, design, delivery and testing cycles. As a partner to the software engineering team, the lead designer helps to frame ux solutions that balance technical constraints with business priorities and user needs, working both within and ahead of high velocity sprints. As product team members, lead designers leverage their prior experience to rapidly gain and share deep Fintech product domain expertise, enabling them to facilitate the team’s ideation on product features, tactics and strategy. The base compensation range is between $135K - $170K.

Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate brainstorming and design sessions with product managers, stakeholders, senior management and team members.
• Collaborate with and mentor product design team members to continually optimize our design culture, processes, and solutions.
• Promote greater understanding and buy-in of UX best practices among product management and engineering teams.
• Learn about and represent our current and future clients and user groups to deliver appropriate and high quality experiences.
• Support marketing initiatives as needed with design or other assets to extend our software product brand to the public sphere.
• Conceptualize and collaboratively iterate solutions informed by relevant patterns of management and consumption of financial data, and company strategic objectives.
• Engage in and help improve our software development process, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, design demos and walkthroughs, retrospectives, and ad hoc assistance. 
• Participate in planning, execution, moderation and interpretation of generative and evaluative research initiatives.
• Expertly engage in the full stack of the design effort ranging from discovery and conceptualizing IA and navigation, to UX workflow and interaction, to visual UI application and improvement.
• Deliver fully realized user interfaces and user experience documentation to the software engineering team, using and extending our design system as needed.
• Help ensure accurate and excellent software implementation by participating in shaping user story tickets and QA testing.

Requirments

• 7+ years of relevant design experience
• Bachelor’s degree in design, or sufficient practical design experience
• Background in financial/enterprise/regulated technology and complex, data-intensive, mission-critical desktop software interfaces
• Experience working on teams in an agile framework
• Familiarity with financial terminology, processes & systems
• Experience designing interactive data visualizations is a plus
• Mastery of design and prototyping tools such as Sketch
