National Grid is seeking a Principal Program Manager for our Electric Operational Controls Team in Syracuse, NY.

Job Purpose
Develop and manage the long term/in-year projected resource plan for Electric Transmission and Distribution station and line projects. This includes projected planned maintenance activities, for the plan period of 1 month to 10+ years for internal engineering/design groups as well as associated work to be outsourced.
Key Accountabilities
- Work in close liaison with Current Year Program/Project Management and Asset Management to ensure the current year and Long Term Portfolio is properly loaded and resource identified.
- Build, manage, maintain, resource work plan through the project life cycle with presentations to Engineering/Design Leadership
- Forecast resource requirements for the Long Term Portfolio based on various budget scenarios.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders in order to share best practice and understand and challenge business decisions.
- Monitor spending and resources for the current year plan and forecast the resultant impacts on the Long Term Portfolio and projected resource plan.
- Assist with special projects and tasks as required
- Run/Analyze and update Monthly Resource Profiles & Spreadsheets
- Monitor and review engineering/design resource information monthly, updating resource data in order to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to timely and accurate information.
- Proactively research, produce, monitor and analyze cost, work plan, or other information to enable analysis of key themes and trends
- Manage the day to day relationship with internal engineering/design teams to understand their requirements, deliver appropriate customized solutions.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to share best practices, provide technical advice
- Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within assigned areas. This includes preparing charts, graphs, and detailed statistical analysis related to budget and cost control
- Produce high level and detailed forecasting models and work schedules to support senior management in defining resource planning strategies
- Expansion to resource the entire project team is anticipated in the future (ex. Project Management, ROW, etc)

- Demonstrates excellent organizational and planning skills with the proven ability to manage priorities and complex programs of significant scope and make fact based decisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree is required preferably in an analytical discipline with a minimum of 5 years' experience including experience as a program manager.
- In lieu of degree, a minimum of 15 years of work experience of which 3 plus years are in a program or project management role.
- Excellent working knowledge and experience in program management principles, tools and techniques.
- Experience of managing the work of multi-functional or diverse teams, demonstrates taking specific actions to enable the team to function efficiently and effectively.
- Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Project management software knowledge a plus. (Primavera P6)
- Knowledge of National Grid's business operations, company policies and practices.
- Knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation.
- Knowledge of current trends within the industry and developments in legislation or regulation.
- Knowledge and proficiency in relevant company IT systems.
- Experience in project management, budgeting, forecasting and scheduling.
- Advanced analytical skills with competencies to transfer data between software systems, and ability to develop complex business reports in project management systems and other software tools.
- Familiar with Transmission and Distribution line and substation construction is a plus.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously.
- Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

Salary
$120,000 - $137,000 a year
